Laundry... REALLY!?!?

I get it, she doesn't like her ex-husband anymore.... but to not wash their uniforms because he coaches the team, REALLY!?!? I mean, as a MOTHER, wouldn't you get it that you are doing a disservice to your children and not to their father!?!?

I have no problem doing the boys' laundry, but this is just infuriating. NEVER EVER in my mind would I let anyone wear soiled underpants and stained clothes just to get back at someone...

Where does a person draw the line? And I don't want to say anything to my husband to not further upset him since she is doing her usual threatening game... but shame on her, absolutely shame on her.

When she first found out that her ex was seeing me, I will never forget that she told him, "Take the children. Take them for a week, I don't want to have anything to do with them"... not necessarily because she actually DIDN'T want anything to do with them, but because that with his work schedule, he wouldn't be able to watch them and she was getting back at him... 3 years later, is this really where we are at!?!?!?

Wow, now THAT'S pathetic! I mean, I've never heard such nonsense. If their dad was a Dr, would she refuse to let them have medical attention????

I don't know what to say to you, but I'm not all that familiar w/ the story - how old are they, is this baseball? I've never heard such logic as this...

I suppose laundry isn't that big of a deal... I mean, she could be doing worse (oh right, but she does!). The thing is that I don't care how "ratty" clothes get, they have to be clean! I think that there is something to be said about looking dignified even when you can't afford to; part of that lies in keeping yourself together.... and as children, they don't have the sense to, so you take care of it for them, right?

But the underpants, that's plain old hygiene! No wonder the children, when they come over to our house aren't wearing any... "I'm not wearing any because we were at Mom's". Uhm, say what!?!?

And she requested that, for Mother's Day, she get them the night before and drop them off at school; it fell on "our" week this year. My husband absolutely agreed, as a matter of fact, they have now changed the agreement that for those "one-dayers", it will always be like that. Well, get this, because the day she dropped them off fell on our week, she didn't prepare lunches for the boys because they were to use the lunch tickets they use when they were with us! REALLY!?!? Being that they were with her and the school knew it, when I paid the school, they were lackadaisical in getting the tickets to the classrooms... fortunately, the eldest had tickets to give the other two! But c'mon, what game are we playing here???

Augh, I gotta go take care of stuff. Thanks for letting me vent!

Ahhh, a spot on Luna Month!! Tsk tsk, Don, I admit the Luna Moth is one of the strong performers and a blemish is rare. But, it is among the most enduring of plants in my garden. So is Squash Casserole et al, and most of the fragrant hosta. I really feel for BKay, I did not know you had LOW humidity up that way, I thought we had similar circumstances. Gads, when will the Devil Demon Doglet grow up and sit sedately at your side, not chasing things over the hosta bleachers! I'm so glad I have two low to the ground dachshunds who simply like to dig in the mulch. I have moved pots further apart for the fat one though. They like getting beneath the cover of green hosta leaves and tracking scents. My goodness, I have at least four hosta which are totally heat dormant this year, one with a nice scape with seedpods still standing. The light substanced Bibb Lettuce by Stuart Asch was the first to go. Then I can commiserate with Denis, those fried hosta leaves are a familiar sight here too. I thought it was a zonal problem, but I suppose not. I water regularly and patrol the garden looking for dis ease and disease as well, moving things to get more or less of light and/or water. I decided I simply cannot grow Dawn's Early Light. It doesn't like my garden. This is the third year for it to look like carp, and I'm pretty discouraged by that. Most of my golds are doing fine. But, anything with WHITE, it looks like Denis and Santa's with an alligator bite out of the midleaf, and distinct long chewed grooved all around the leaves. I'm truly reluctant to use any chemicals that might harm pollinators that I encourage to attend the needs of my fertile bloomers. I'm not sure of the NIGHT pollinators I might count on, but whatever lands on me after dark is pretty safe, unless they are scared off by my screams and jumping around a lot. This is two Pathfinder with Half And Half in between. The white seems to melt regardless of where it appears on the leaf. Littler Ice Cream is drying up about to blow away. Or else go heat dormant. I moved it to a different spot with more shade and less watering Carnival is simply dead, it was eaten by something, don't you think? All those HOLES in the crown! This doesn't count any of the hosta which have the bottom layer of leaves dying and drying up. Once they are down, I simply pull them off cleanly. Those hosta are generally making a second and third flush of leaves, I cannot find fault with that. After all, they are not even supposed to be growing here, remember? But don't tell them! I'm wondering if I should be taking notes on the varieties not making it elsewhere, if they are problems here too. If so, I'll be putting some on the DO NOT REHIRE list. Life is too short and planting space too precious to choose non-productive plants. Too many good ones yet to discover. Great thread. I'm late to the party yet again.

I have the GE Harmony and I just love it. We also have 6 people in our family and I do a lot of laundry. It replaced my '97 TL GE with a regular agitator and I think the Harmony does a better job. You can fit tons of clothes in it. I'm not sure about the king-sized comforter. It would depend on how thick it is. I wash my king down blanket with no problem. Thicker than a blanket but thinner than a regular comforter. To give you an idea of what it holds, I can wash 2 sets of king sheets comfortably.

OK, I think it's safe to say that the Bosch dryers are a wee bit overly sensitive to air flow. This is clearly estlablished. Here's a few tip's for EO1 sufferer's. I think the use of flex duct is out of the question to use with these dryers. The straight runs of the flex hose will collect as much lint as a 90 deg. bend smooth sided rigid duct, especially if the flex duct is not fully stretched out. Any flex duct that is not stretched out fully will trap lint like crazy. If you have excess duct, do not leave it bunched up. Stretch it out fully and cut off the excess if you must use it. Smooth sided rigid ducting will reduce lint build up but annual cleaning of any duct on a well used dryer is essential to proper dryer operation and maximum efficiency. Another option that will help people with EO1 syndrome (if feasable), is the use of oversized ducting. You can get adaptors that will allow the use of 5 or even 6 inch ducting that will help increase air flow in long runs of ducting. I don't know if the sensor is operated on temperature or air flow, but it appears that these dryers do not tolerate any air flow obstruction. Another thing to be looked at is proper installation of the duct work. Heat naturally rises and any duct work that flows downward will cause back pressure, just as if it were partially clogged. Any down flowing sections should be removed and rerouted to at least be level, but ultimately flowing upward. Any bends in the duct should be kept to a minimum. If you can get away with a 45 rather than a 90 deg. bend, do it. If possible, make the duct work flow upward all the way to the house vent and keep bends to a minimum. Make sure your outside vent has something on it to prevent critters from entering the duct work, especially if it's near ground level. Don't use a screen on the outside vent unless it has at least 3/4 inch square sized holes and clean it often too. Use foil tape to seal seams and it's a good idea to leave a seam untaped every 6 or 8 feet so that you can easily take the ducts apart for cleaning every year. Anyone who has had to remove that foil tape on a joint will know why I say to leave it off. It's not easy to remove! I found a vent duct brush with a 6 foot wire handle for $6 at a hardware store. A must have to clean the ducts. My wife has one of those ball shaped cob web broom things on an extendable handle. They work great for cleaning ducts too. If you're not into taking the ducts apart,you can buy these plastic things that are advertised as "heating vents" that go in line with your duct work so that you can open the vent and use the heat from your dryer to heat your basement or wherever. They fit in line with the duct work and they have a little lever on them to open and close the vent. If you don't mind 100% humidity in your basement they're fine, but they also allow you access to the vent for cleaning which is what I use them for . They're cheap and are easy to install. The only problem is that you can only clean in one direction when it's open so you'll have to put one every 8 or 10 feet if you have a long run. Just something to consider if you don't want to take the ducts apart for cleaning every year. Hope this helps. Happy duct cleaning!!

what a great kid! it sounds like you hit your limit--I think during decluttering, we all hit a point at which we get scared; we feel like we're letting go of too much, it starts to feel out-of-control, we fear we'll have regrets, we start to feel guilty (at rejecting the stuff and at having hung onto it at all). That's when it's time to stop (or, push on just a little bit, but stop). If we go beyond our "scare point," I think we can discourage ourselves from doing it again. Bcs you stopped where you did, you can have ONLY great results. Then, when you get brave enough to go through the recipes, in the next session, you can bring into it the great feelings and have them empower you. If you were bringing in regrets and guilt, you might not be as powerful the next time. So pick a date to do those recipes; you'll surprise yourself at how many of them you don't really need. (just don't do it at a time when you're hungry, LOL!)

Oh wow, she sounds like a real nutcase! I mean, who'd risk their kid NOT having lunch, for goodness sake!

And, the whole underwear thing is plain out gross. I must have skimmed over that in the first post. It's just nasty, and certainly doesn't teach the kids that having self-respect is important. How old are the children again?

WOW this sound exactly like my DH's EX!!!! She took her son to his last hockey game, dragged her daughter who didn't want to go. My hubby shows up to find out that she didn't feed them anything from the morning. When he shows up she has the nerve to tell him to go buy food for them. Lucky i know what a twisted individual she is and i packed food for my hubby to take for them.
She even did the situation you are in with the clothes. She send her son with no underwears except for the one he was wearing and then blames it on him for not packing it. ITS DISGUSTING!. Well i covered that base as well. When i met her i understood what character she was. So bought both kids 3 sets of underwear and some new clothes. Didnt' even tell my hubby and when the problem arose...i said 'here you go. ' I washed the one pair they had, and they rewore that one back. She would call my hubby saying..what they wore one underwear??? he would reply, DId you send them with one? oh dont worry, we have that covered. the rest is yours to wash though.She would get pist. She's quieted down a bit lately. I've send her a few legal letters and to her lawyer as well.
These types of mothers are vindictive and care for no one but themselves and their revenge. The dislike anyone who is happy because they are miserable. Its a shame but you do what is best for the kids and ignore her!
