Help finding neutral taupe paint color!
Comments (11)I feel your pain. I spent months trying to find a color for our master bedroom. Loved the colors on the chips, bought samples, and was shocked at all the undertones. I never thought some of the neutrals would turn pink, peach, or purple. The medium taupes looked like wet drywall. The light in our east-facing room made it a challenge. After spending way too much money on samples, I finally found a color that works for us. Sherwin Williams Naturel, #7542, No undertones at all, and a nice, soft neutral. Love it! BTW, Sherwin Williams paints will be 40% off as of 4/19/13; the sale lasts a few days. Good luck! Wags...See MoreHELP! Should I paint my cabinets black or cream or taupe?
Comments (38)"I sure hope you like black. There are some of us who would not even consider it." I take no personal offense at that statement, but it's very narrow. Isn't that what makes the world more interesting...diversity? My previous kitchen was beautiful with matte black painted maple lower cabinets. I had no uppers...just art hanging in that space. the cabinets weren't heavy looking, nor did they make the room too dark. It was a beautiful space.....and understated...quite like the proverbial black cocktail dress, a classic. I had tons of natural light...one solid wall of windows and my wood floors were oak with no stain so they weren't dark. I would agree it depends on the kitchen, style of house, countertop, lighting, etc. Decora cabinets used to send potential clients over to see my kitchen anytime someone was considering black. I wish I could post photos, but I only have the real estate tour and you can't snag stills from it. The house sold in 45 days during the worst of the housing crunch. The buyers specifically said they loved the kitchen at the act of sale. So there are also those of us who would and have chosen black. Like everything else...it depends on the big picture....See MoreLooking for the Perfect 'Blue' Neutral Paint Color
Comments (39)I started to second guess my posting and whether that bluish color is actually Silver Sage -- I am so sorry, I know how confusing this can be and I don't mean to add to the confusion! It could actually be Benjamin Moore Cashmire Grey. Whatever the color is, on this dark, dreary, rainy morning - it now looks more green. This is why it is always a good idea to get samples and put up on your own walls so you can see at different times of the day. All my samples and 1000+ paint swatches went in the trash after reno - part of the "cleaning" out process. I can't help you with those other colors and don't want to guess!!! Trust yourself, you have beautiful colors in the other rooms!!!...See MorePaint color - a neutral grey or taupe that goes with RH Linen (cream)
Comments (5)Thank you Marylee H! Tonight I painted SW Beach House, Colonnade Grey, Requisite Grey and one other color whose name I can’t remember. Of that bunch, Colonnade or Requisite are the winners but I need to see them in the daylight!...See Morettodd
