justgottabeme: That is a very sweet story about your Mom. DD seems to enjoy having my attention on her room--sometimes before she'd get annoyed when I spent so much time on "decorating." What I am doing is sifting through the myriad of choices to 1-3 choices which I think are acceptable in terms of cost, color and durability and have let her make the final choice. Having this forum as a sounding board to determine the options is very helpful, but for the most part I try to let her make the choices. The JCP rug is a tad smaller than I'd like, though bac717 brought up a good point that with JCP returns are not a problem. I may actually work from the chair fabric backwards and see which fabric she chooses then choose the opposite color for the rug since we have two options. One concern I have with the dotted fabrics is that they are all 100% cotton--and perhaps not the most durable choice for the seat cushion. Here are some of the ones from the Susan Sargent line I thought could work. Your welcome Judy. I have 2 tiny ballet dancers, 4 & 6, part of the reason I bought the tulle. I had such a problem finding WT's for that room. The windows in the room are caddy cornered, and part of the problem is one of the window's is boarded up from the outside. Our home is a work in progress. It has been a slow renovation/restoration, 3 years in the making. We found the windows in their room behind knotty pine paneling. Their bedroom is not finished, I still intend on hanging their tutu's on the wall. The tulle was meant to be temporary, but I really like how it turned out, and since we have so many other projects going on in the house, they will probably stay indefinitely. I will post pics tomorrow. I don't have any close-ups and the girlies are asleep in there right now. BTW, I am delighted to see your DD's bedroom and the similarities in my girls' bedroom. Perhaps this may mean they will still like it when they are 15? I could only hope ;-)

To tell you the honest truth, the two colors look alike on my screen and I don't like either one. Both are too mauve-y for me. (Caveat - I don't like mauve; I've never liked mauve; I avoided mauve the last time it came around. So, my opinion may not be a good one for you.) What about a nice cream? Several houses ago, I painted my bedroom Pratt and Lambert Antique White. Then I had the ceiling painted the palest tint of blue. I loved that room. My best resource for choosing colors is the guy at the paint store and when I lived in another town, there was a woman at a paint store there who was super. I take a fabric swatch, describe what I want, and he figures out which color will get me there*. He helped me pick out colors for our 2nd home when we were 500 miles apart and I was pleased with those colors until the day I moved.

I wonder if you have some fabric for inspiration. If there will be a pillow or piece of art somewhere in the room, I would look there for those accent colors. Good luck! And we'd love to see your work when you're done!
