I've posted mine before, but here it is again. I definitely suggest hen & chicks or sedum that can really take being dry. Otherwise you are a slave to them and if you miss a day or two of watering, they're done for. I didn't line mine - just planted directly in them, no drain holes, but did cut a hole in the toe and planted it also. I leave mine out all winter. I never water mine - they only get the occasional rain and once in awhile the hose hits them if I happen to be watering something else near them, which hardly ever happens. I've never done cowboy boots - only work boots, but I'm thinking it would be neat to fill them with dirt and cut holes up and down the sides to plant sort of like a strawberry pot. I was feeling discouraged trying to find design ideas that were just "normal" not trendy or over the top designs. I finally started searching house listings. I only looked at homes built in the last 5 years and in the 1 million dollar price range (here in the Seattle area, that is just a regular house... not the mansion you would expect). I think going to open houses would be helpful as well. Especially model homes in new developments. You probably won't find any outrageous, over the top designs but you will find designs that typically appeal to a large proportion of the general public. Hope this helps.

My thoughts exactly, CALAM. Wish I knew what kind of putty he used, and I thought immediately of those sea shell lamps y'all made. I'll be off to thrift stores today looking for colored glass. Gonna try using black GEII, push/sqush and see what I come up with. Whoever used the liquid lead, please come forward and tell us how you did it again. FLAG suggested I use that.

I am unexpectedly remodeling my bathroom before my kitchen... I have been planning, researching & thinking kitchen but it has worked out this way and I am happy just to be doing something! I am really stuck on inspiration photos. It is a smaller sized masterbath and I am planning to move the shower and make it larger. I am looking for tile design, storage design, etc. I posted here too because so many of you have done both or are doing both! My searches are coming up short and they are coming to demo soon! Kathy, my daughter can solder. If she can, you can. (She's all girly girl with French manicure and pedicure, Ann Taylor Loft and sparkly flip flops kind of woman.) She can solder like no tomorrow. I encourage you to try.

Think of soldering like cake decorating with a really hot tube of frosting. The hand control is similar.

Beautiful! Thanks for the treat!! DH & I went to a ghost town, somewhere between L.A. & Las Vegas 1 time & it was such fun wandering around & looking in empty buildings. I'm sure it had been used for some movies. Had that wild west feel. Never thought to look for glass treasures. We left as sun going down & didn't want to be in middle of no place at night, this was long before cellphones. I imagine a place like that would be a real treasure house out back. He must have a way of cleaning up glass as it hardly ever looks like this coming from the ground. Maybe the sand it is in in desert makes it stay nice. Stuff buried in dirt is caked & has stains on them. Glad he is preserving history. Jan

I have been itching to get back into the stained glass.....trying to set up in my garage but need heat for the winter....have a bench and 2 grinders and all the supplies just crying out to me awaiting my creativity...thanks for the inspiration....love this work......
