i got a whole bunch of pitch forks....no handles any idea what i could use these for....

Hi Mojo, you can buy the long and short handles at a hardware store or try Home Depot. I saw a pic of using the fork part to stick decorative Indian Corn on the tings (is that what they're called) and then hung on a fence. You might add a fall garland swirled around the handle for added color. Some folks just hang them on their sheds as decoration with other garden tools.

I saw an ad in a magazine recently where they had a Jack-o-latern holder that was made out of rebar. It looked like a stick man with a pumpkin head. The feet looked like pitch forks, rebar legs and then a long length of rebar coiled up to make the body and straight rebar for arms. I don't remeber the hands, but I bet another set of pitchforks would work. I think the top of the coiled body may have had a metal plate to hold the jack-o-lantern. It was pretty cute.

What have you done to disguise kitchen appliances, make them stand out less. What creative ways have you came up with to made them look less like an appliance & more like a decorative piece or more like a cabinet??? (Besides the decorative panels of course, which seem to be out of my price range.) How does a black refrigerator blend in? I know my black dishwasher looks ok. I have always had a white refrigerator so not sure how the other colors look. My other choice would probably be the SS, the kind that say they show less finger prints but still am not sold on the idea. By the way, I have medium color wood cabinets now. 4 oz martinis! Four-tune cookies. lol Your party sounds fun, I love a good theme! Rolled meatloaf, filled with 4 different ingredients. It's really good. Rolled Meat Loaf 1 pound ground beef 1/2 pound ground pork 1/2 pound ground veal.... (I used 1 lb.pork, don't eat veal.) 1 egg 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs 4 drops hot sauce 1 T. worcestershire sauce 1 onion, chopped finely 1/2 tsp. oregano salt and pepper 1 pkg. frozen chopped spinach, cooked and drained 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 2 hard boiled eggs, chopped 6 thin slices of ham To prepare the meatloaf, mix together the first 11 ingredients, until just mixed, don't overwork. Spread the mixture out on a sheet of wax paper, in a rectangle of any size but it needs to be 1/2" thick. Layer on the spinach, spread evenly, then the chopped egg, then the cheese and finish with the ham slices. Roll up the meat loaf with the aid of the wax paper, jelly-roll style, starting at the short end, and seal the edges, and fix where it rips open, which it will! Place in a baking pan, 9x13 or so.... Bake at 350Âº for 1 1/2 hours. Make sure you removed the wax paper!

Alen3 Actually I've been thinking about the same idea, making it smaller and making people bend when they enter it :) But if I go with that, I'll most likely choose to shorten the entrance portion that's on the floor. Because that'd give me more space for the actual entrance to the apartment. chiflipper Thank you for your suggestion :) I did not know about the whole activated charcoal trick and I'll definitely use it. Yet, it would be better if I could find a final solution to the problem, but I guess I'll just have to live with it and try as much as possible to make the smell as less noticeable as possible. wednesday morning You are wright, The smell can be caused by the whole apartment and not just the wine cellar, yet, when I installed the door down there, the smell did decrease significantly. But it still remained. So, since I still have a small portion of that brick wall tunnel open to the apartment, I'm guessing that is the main source of the smell. Yes, there are windows in the apartment, but they are quite small (you won't be able to crawl through them in case of fire). I'll be posting some more pics of the apartment since everyone's interested :) And these are the windows And since everyone got so intrigued, I'll also post a pic of the wine cellar down there. So, this pic was taken when I started renovating the old cellar. when I bought the apartment, the cellar had been painted in white by the previous owners (and the government was not happy about it). So, what I did was, I peeled the whole painted off the brick walls and then covered them with transparent sealer (which was suggested by the biggest local store I could find). I also did some electricity down there and that's when I took this picture. Nowadays I have wine racks and the shelves down there, and I a tiny wine table in the center for people to enjoy the wine in the old atmosphere. And just old traditional furniture and decoration. But I wanted to show you this pic so that you can understand the type of the building that this is. Even though it looks pretty modern from the outside (the building), it hides some really ancient stuff inside :)

Hmmm, I would probably use them to border a small or large garden bed or garden box. With the points facing down, pushed down just far enough so that you can still tell they are pitch forks. I think they might look cute all lined up. I wouldn't suggest the other way, with the points up, unless you do not have children or pets that can run and get hurt.

You could also stick a garden stake thru them while they are in the ground.

No idea as to what to do with them..but this begs to be asked.... How in the world did you come to get a bunch of pitchforks without handles??

Hang them on a shed or garage wall? I've seen that done a few times and have wanted to get just one at least to do that with but I can't seem to find them when I'm looking for them! LOL

well came into a ton of pitchforks due to relative passing...(he was a pack rat) not only farm stuff tons of vintage cast iron cook ware chairs, tons of windows...(those I can use).... my house well lets say it looks like a bad yard sale inside lol...

Have seen them hung on a bathroom or dressing room wall and used as a holder for jewelry - necklaces, bracelets, etc. You could paint to match your decor or leave it more "rustic", if you'd like.

Just regular rakes can be used to hold utensils in the kitchen.

I MAKE LAWN CRITTERS OUT OF USED GARDEEN TOOLS, REBAR, AND WHATEVER OTHER METAL THINGS I CAN FIND. SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE THE MAKINGS OF AN OSTRICH OR TURKEY THERE.
