Betty had the opportunity to take the money and quietly go away...She didnt, and now instead of being a wealthy matron having a lovely dinner out with her children tonight, shes in JAIL.....Sometimes you have to take whats handed to you with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child....Thats how you get thru tough times..And yeah, boy do I wish DHs Ex would go quietly away...Broke or wealthy, whatever, just GO AWAY...Drag me in the street and flog me now....

I don't think anyone would recommend doing in one's ex-spouse.

Ex-spouses are not, generally speaking, going to "go away," particularly if there are children, even adult ones. It is unreasonable to expect that they will.

I certainly dont recommend killing anyone. Point of fact, Mr. Broderick obtained a divorce, remarried before any property settlement (ie the money). This "bifurcated" procedure is no longer allowed in Califonia. Point of fact, he had criminal charges pressed againt her, and later his friends in court system had all records elimianted. Not charges dropped, but as if never happened. His so call friends later admitted this, and regretted they were part of his plans to intimidate her into a minimal settlement. Just because he was wealthy didnt mean she wasnt entitled to a fair settlement.

But SMs wont see it that way.

She was entitled to a fair settlement and he was wrong for what he did. That doesn't justify what she did and now she has nothing....

SM's won't see it WHAT way? I see that he used his money & influence to screw her over but she didn't do the things she did ONLY because of not getting a fair settlement. She used her kids by dumping them off with him to break up his 'love nest', figuring the kids would put a wrench in their 'happy home'. When that didn't work, she wanted them back. He said no. She was angry that she lost her kids (by her own actions) and angry that she lost her status in the community and now his new, younger, prettier version of herself was going to the parties & vacations that SHE deserved. She was bitter that she had been replaced. It WASN'T just about the money. She was entitled to be angry but make no mistake, it wasn't just because of money that she did those things.

Not that I am defending murder, but I find it interesting that the Broderick story is used as an example. It is also an example of a 24 year old woman having an affair with a married man, whom she worked for and knew to be married. Not that she deserved to be married. But I wouldnt use it as an example.
