Hilarious.We have a neighbor with a couple of washers up in their front yard,astrange shedin back,garbage all over the side yard and the ubiquitous chain linked fence with chained up pit bull in it.Oh yeah,the dog has a fruit crate to shield it from the hot Florida sun and all our numerous rainsorms.Chain on dog is about four feet long.I could go on... there's more.Sandy

of course, being the blue-haird weirdo 30-something who moved in to a community of retirees (though I don't freak them out as badly as the chinese family who moved in next door- or the even more colored folks who were just looking at one of the OTHER houses to come on the market this year)

I am very sorry that I found your neighbor so funny, but I actually laughed out loud when I read your story. We had a neighbor once who was ordered to redo his shingles by our city, so he stripped them off in May and left a huge orange tarp on his roof for a year (the tarp was okay for Hallowe'en, but we got tired of looking at it by Christmas). Thank your for sharing your story, it really made me thankful for my neighbors (who refuse to do anything to their yard, but maybe that's better than doing what your neighbor does).

That site gave me the chills. We just moved into a new house in a brand new subdivision. Everyone has nice yards except the guy across the street decided to save some money and do the finishing touches himself (landscaping, painting, fencing.....) Well it's been 3 months and I can still see his backyard(no fence) and has thrown a few pieces of grass seed. Everyone else has sod and lovely plants. Why did he have to be my neighbor?????

We had neighbors like that and put up a tall fence between our yards. They cleaned their fireplace and piled the ashes against the fence on their side. The fence caught on fire, and a tree burned too.

Oh my God - I was in hysterics reading that poor neighbor's plight.

My family had to come running to see what I was laughing so hard at!

I think that about half of this nonsense goes on because there's no real sense of community in new developments...

when I started butchering the yew in my frond yard-with a hand saw- one of the neighbors came out and took a chain saw to it for me. the guy that built the lean-to addition, back patio, and garden shed still lives across the street, and offered his help (well, consutation and advice, since his arthritis interferes with him helping) when I started trying to repair the retaining wall (all wrong, I might add- doesn't make me a redneck, just makes me ignorant)

the guy with the shaggy yard might be a n'er do well or a miser...but he might also be trying to juggle a job and a half, a kid and a half, and a wife out on disability. the posted site is almost as amusing for the randomness of the projects as it is for the harm being caused (somewhere else, thank god)

but then, some of the best people I have met I found by sticking my nose into other people's business, so it's something of a habit with me.

It was an amusing read, and I admit the guy is white trash (not to be confused with a redneck or good ol' boy). However, I would rather live next door to him than a nosy neighbor that peeks through the blinds, takes pictures of my house, constantly calls the cops and homeowners association, and ridicules anything I did.

Sorry, just had to rant a little bit. I'm glad I don't live in a neighborhood surrounded by white trash and busy-bodies. It's enough being surrounded by rednecks and Atlanta transplants (they're worse than Yankees- we're over-run with them!).

Very funny , have to agree with chin cat though ,still a little strange to imagine folks from "beige land" (pet words for homes with covenants)even looking at this site.
I moved to an older neighbor hood of folks who all built the houses on my block and a mo. later painted our home salmon and lavender (pink and purple)but then started to plant flowers and they all calmed down a bit and after several yrs. they have all told me they would have chosen other colors 30 yrs ago but did not want to cause trouble ,and my closest neighbor in his 80,s r.i.p said hell I ain,t buyin the paint and your payin the payments ,gave me all of his old paint supplies (free stuff) . I now have plants from 7 of 12 houses here .
I did notice beer was involved in most of the story kinda speaks for it self funny as all git out .

On my way to a garage sale I passed a house where all the front flower beds were full to overflowing with a wild assortment of artificial flowers. Since I like to garden and am familiar with seasonal plants I was particularly interesed in the tulips next to daisies next to Poinsettas.

I did a search and apparently the website isn't up anymore. Too bad. Although I'm sure I can imagine even without looking.

My parents lived across from an older man who had a lawnmower business. His entire front lawn was covered with them, yet he never mowed. Everyone knew him and honked as t hey drove by. He honked as he left his house, just to let us know he was leaving. People complained about his house, the fact that it was in a severe state of disrepair and that there were holes in the roof, etc.

But that guy was always watching out for our house and family. He would be up and have our drive plowed with his tractor sometimes before my parents were awake. Since they've moved, I wonder how he's doing.

There's a guy in the next town who's a notorious "collector." You know him when you see him in public, he sticks out like a sore thumb in a town full of people who think they are ... well, superior, let's just put it that way. Not only has the town put him in jail because of the state of his property (which, 90 percent of they year is almost completely shrouded behind trees) but they've shown his face on local television like he's a murderer. They've even shown his feet (he must have some condition that requires use of a wheelchair and special shoes) on tv. Since I like 'collecting,' yard and garage sales and great finds, I'm thinking, "Maybe I should follow him to these sales!"

I guess my point is, even though they may look awful on the outside, they might be the nicest people on the inside.

i would like to see rednecks trashy yard.woman across street buys bright plastic colored tulips every spring from the dollar store and plants them near the street.they look good for about 2 months but by xmas looks bad. she does this every year.always tulips.the rest of her yard is bare.

That was/is a funny "story"...since it was mostly a one-sided story...I think that the owner of the Redneck Yard should give his views on the topic....since he is the subject. ( Might be interesting )...Maybe he's a joker? a bit accentric? a cluts? All the above?....At least, noone will be copying his style (?)... ha

I couldn't see the picture, but reading about the pit bull being chained to 4' of chain is not something to be taken lightly. Has it crossed your mind that this person could possibly be in violation of an animal cruelty law? Water and food have to be within a certain distance of the animal. If I were in your shoes, I would call your local ASPCA. Your identity will not be given to your neighbor. A 'concerned citizen' will more than likely be a reason for their investigating. It's up to humans to take the responsibility for animal, child, or any other inhumane abuse. Thanks for letting me vent, and please do not take offense.
