gap behind Bertazzoni gas stove after installation
Comments (10)Thanks for the replies! These were really helpful. We weren't going to have a backsplash (just some high gloss paint) b/c there isn't a lot of room above the stove - we have an above-the-range microwave, and there is only a little bit of wall above the stove because of that. But a small bit of stainless steel to fill the gap might work (also, we wanted to use the Bertazzoni toekick to keep that area under the stove from collecting interesting and disgusting things that we can't reach to clean, but apparently it only works if your stove is exactly 36" high, and ours had to be placed higher to be level with the countertops - so maybe whoever does that piece could also come up with a simple toekick). It sounds like it might be a good idea to try to find a stainless steel fabricator - any tips on how to find one? This would mean going out of my way to hire yet another firm to do work in the apartment, and we are at the end of our time limit for renovations (baby due any day now, and just general renovation fatigue has set in), so I'm hoping to keep extra logistics to a minimum......See MoreBacksplash behind stove - 2 options - opinions wanted
Comments (5)This is almost exactly like my old kitchen... too funny. But this is sort of the look we would have, except we would have no 6 inch base of the counter top material around the edge, just our back splash. My concern is the tumbled marble tiles may be too porous for use behind the stove, and if they stain, then it's a real pain to clean. Quarts on the other hand would be very easy and would act as a sort of "feature" behind the stove. Keep in mind also that I do not have a hood, just an OTR microwave with ventilation....See MoreSuggestions Needed - How to Handle Gap Behind Stove
Comments (7)Sounds like it's a slide in range, based on the fact it's designed to overlap the counters. Slide in ranges are designed to be installed with a strip of countertop behind them. This counter is not present when a slide in is retrofitted in the spot of a freestanding range, or the installation guidelines of the range were not taken into account in the construction of the kitchen, LOL. As mentioned above, the manufacturers have filler strips to deal with this issue, but there are also more aesthetically pleasing options available. For example, GE has a backguard for slide ins (linked) that's kind of like the one on a freestanding range but is much more low profile. Here is a link that might be useful: GE slide in backguard This post was edited by hvtech42 on Fri, Nov 28, 14 at 22:58...See MoreHanging artwork on wall behind stove
Comments (17)I had art behind mine in a house I recently sold and it had been there over a year. I sealed with an epoxy spray to protect it and it was fine. I doubt seriously that anyone would be hanging a Van Gough in thier kitchen so if you hang an inexpensive piece of art what does it hurt if you seal it to keep it from fading and to make it wipeable? I actually got the idea from a lady who works at Home Depot because the tile art is very pricy....See Moredavidro1
