I saw (and bought) a bookmark at the dollar store,$1...lol of course...since my daughter just bought me a huge goodie bag of cardstock and decorative papers I knew I could make this myself, and that it would be used and appreciated by my friends and family. The first one in the photo is one I bought(the orange printed one) the rest I made. It didn't take long to figure out a template for them.

forgot to mention what would make it trash to treasure...when I was trying to find a template online, I found out that these are also made from old envelopes, you can re-cycle your junk mail to make some! A rubber stamp could make it very unique :) I wonder why I never saw these before?? LOL

Lovely! I'd never seen them before either. Now maybe my dog ear method of marking my place can be stopped. I hate the long page boomarks they seem to stress the binding after reading the book over a long period of time.

Here is the pattern... The pattern will fit with a little room to spare on a 4x6 index card. The pattern is 5 1/2" wide, 4" high on the higher side and 3 1/2" on the lower side. the lines making a triangle are fold lines. Fold to the back there is a glue area on the taller flap. I only cut the fancy edge from one fold line around the center to the other fold line. Hope you don't mind I went ahead and posted the pattern Kudzukween...I don't mean to steal your post. I took a cork board and covered it with fabric. Then I ran ribbons diagonally across it in parallel lines - running in both directions so they crossed at places. I put in a push pin wherever they crossed. The ribbons allow me to stick book marks behind them so they are held securely, but I can still see and enjoy them and pull them out whenever I want something a bit different. This link shows the general idea of what I did. The cool thing is that you can get fabrics/ribbons to match whatever decor.

Another bookmark exchange comes to a close and I daresay a good time was had by all. This year was much easier as I already had the database set up. Do you think it is a good idea to make it a yearly thing? I am willing to play host unless someone else has a burning desire to do so. I have been eying some sales and thinking about next year. Of course we don't have to decide any of this now, just something to think about.

I love these!!! What a great idea!! I'm always losing or bending my rectangular bookmarks! Thanks for the great inspiration--especially since I have a store of scrapbooking paper that would be great for these. :-)
