What happened to my bookmarks??? Or my account?

I haven't been here for a month or two due to being so busy, and now everything is wiped out. All of my bookmarks are gone, all posts, everything. I searched for a post I had initiated, found it, and it was still marked "bookmarked" plus my likes on everyone's replies were still marked on it there as well. But when I go back to "Your Houzz", it's still gone. ???? What's up with that?

And also it looks as if the menu for the Garden Web has changed; I had to search around before I could find The Kitchen Table. Or am I not remembering correctly?

So now I went back (after bookmarking this) to "Your Houzz" and this thread is now showing up plus a bar "show more events", but when clicking it, there is nothing under it.

Hi Else - I just checked your bookmarks and I do see them listed - http://www.houzz.com/bookmarks/user/kittyfam . You might need to scroll down the page a bit - they will show up after Stories and Ideabooks. And, make sure you are logged in when you view the page.

Let me know if you are still having trouble!

Carrie, I think it kind of depends on what you're spending the money on if you withdraw it. (Again, not a lawyer.) After my dad died and I got Power of Attorney for my mom, we put my name on her checking accounts so that I could pay her bills, as she's not able to handle money (Alzheimer's). I make sure to keep copies of all the bills I've paid, and I always make sure each check is noted in the register. I also keep all receipts for the money spent on her prescriptions. It's hard enough to care for one's parents as they age, but taking care of the finances is doubly difficult. My parents were so frugal, I know that if Mom realized we are paying over $2,200 a month for her apartment at the retirement community/assisted living facility, she'd come unglued. As it is, she doesn't ask those types of questions anymore. We have maybe enough money to pay out of pocket for a couple of years. I'm going to file for Veteran's Benefits for my mom to try and supplement this, as my dad was a WWII veteran. Best of luck to you!! You're not alone in this journey, for sure.

I did all of the above. While a couple of old sites came up in a search, most of them were still missing. The trouble is that AOL uses IE but also has its own system, which is different. I am able to pull up the IE favorites but not the AOL favorites (which is most of my bookmarked sites). Then I read through all of the tutorials in the AOL Help section that pertain to Favorites. It says that they now use a system that does not save your favorites on your computer. Here is the exact language: Determine if 'Only Store my Favorite Places on my Computer' Is Checked. If it is not checked, it means your Favorite Places are saved online. AOL appreciates your patience during times when popular features may temporarily be unavailable. The AOLÂ® System is sometimes very busy and may experience temporary issues that can lead to delays or slow response. Note: With AOLÂ® 8.0 and higher versions, your Favorite Places are now stored on AOLÂ® servers rather than on your computer. This allows you to access your Favorite Places from any location or computer that you use. For example, if you sign on as a guest on another computer, you will automatically have access to your Favorite Places. Or, if you buy a new computer, you won't have to worry about how to transfer your Favorite Places. I still can't find my Favorites :( I will have to contact AOL again and see if they're stored somewhere in their cybervault.

Thanks for reposting, GG. This is just plain interesting. Don't mean to be insensitive, but it's a real who/what-done-it. There seems to be real clues, e.g. only one of the same cultivar, apparently with the same growing and maintenance conditions and the location (namely only the front one and problem focused only on one side of that one). Not to completely exclude others, but I like Ken's suggestion. So are there dog's around? It could be a pee/hit and run. It's the most accessible plant. Are there dogs in the neighbourhood and could a dog get in? Sometimes in garden maintenance you suspect, but don't feel sure about the root cause of a problem. Presumably that's because there's often not one single dramatic cause but an interaction of causes. You can also never be sure that an individual plant didn't come with an inherent weakness/susceptability, Still, in this case, what is the likelihood that that single plant would be the front one. It does seem unfortunate, GG, that the affected plant is kind of the lead plant in an attractively planted formation. Still a gardener's life is not (always) a happy one! So interesting.

Generally a well installed lower quality window will outperform a poorly installed better window. Meaning, air infiltration is the the most important function of the window. Energy star does not have air infiltration requirements on windows. https://www.energystar.gov/products/building_products/residential_windows_doors_and_skylights/key_product_criteria Energy star uses the U-Value (U) & Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) to qualify windows. The lower the U Value the better the window is at slowing the rate of transfer of heat. The performance difference between the .30 U Value & .27 U Value isn't significant enough to warrant discarding the windows. The SHGC will be more of a factor depending on the location of the windows. Any facing South will have less heat gained in the winter than a unit designed for southern climates. So, make sure they are installed correctly and you'll be just fine. But, do check in with your inspector to make sure she/he doesn't make you rip them out.

Thank you Tamera, I am finding them now under the tab in the top center, when I hit bookmarks there. But it's still strange, because it seems I always used to see them under "Your Houzz" in the top right corner, but the only ones I can see there are the two posts I posted and bookmarked today. When I clicked the link that you posted, I could see all of my old ones, but still when clicking Your Houzz I only see today's. Almost like it all was moved under a different tab. But thank you, at least now I can find them! :)

I am making a comment on this old thread because I am having problems with my account and it appears that Tamara might be following this question.

I can't see My Houzz or my settings--only on an email notifying me of activity does it appear--and when I went there it wasn't accurate . My avatar was gone and none of my bookmarks were there. Also it said I was following a bunch of people I've never heard of!

I've also been trying to resolve the issue of the ad in the upper left corner that interfere with seeing the name of the OP of a thread.

Please HOUZZ, send help! I didn't even see anything about receiving messages so I'm not sure if that is enabled or not.
