My BIL has a cabin and for their kitchen they hung some netting on the wall and then hung their pots and pans with cuphooks in between the netting holes. They also had a small oar that they put cup hooks on for their big cooking spoons and ect.

I have a ton!
I have used nautical Christmas ornaments to decorate a welcoming wreath for the door, welcome signs and to use as decorating accessories around the house....knobs on top of lamps, thrown in with potpourri, as refrig magnets, napkin rings and as the ends curtain rods. I have used oars to hang window toppers from.,,,,and another to hang a long,bed-cuddle pillowed(covered) along the wall for a padded rest for the bottom bunkbed. I wrapped a metal bunkbed with rope. I have cast the kids footprints in lakesand to hang on the walls. I used an old boat hull for the main part of a "bar"...and used a plastic maidenhead on it and drilled it and stuffed lights into it(it's cool). Found it on a website for Nautical stuff......there are TONS of sites if you do a search. I have painted old furniture and sanded off the edges to make them all go together......they are mismatched except for the color of paint and the rubbed off corners to show a white undercoat. I did use different nautical things for any knobs that I had to replace. One room I did rope knots, one I used some fishing bobbers, and another more ornaments.(watch for sales during the Christmas season....you can find them CHEAP!). I also used rope to circle around a mirror with a knot at the bottom....and used some to wrap around a lampshade. In one room, I hung fishnets over and off to one side on the curtains and hung fishing lures in the nets. I also bought calendars of boats and lake scenes to frame....also bllew up tons of pictures of us enjoying the cabin over the years on the computer and framed them....great to see how everyone has enjoyed the lake and grown over the years!! I bought old picture frames from resale shops and painted them......they look great all different, but the same color. I used old driftwood(after spraying and drying out in the sun for a long time...worried about bugs) to hang from the ceiling to hang pots from....with a smaller piece of net on one corner. I have bought remnants of carpet, painted it in squares and made fish bean bags to use for tic-tc-toe. Other remnants I have painted on for outside the doors......cheap and can be thrown away each year for a change.
I have an old fishing basket for the odds and ends in my bathroom.

I have tons of other things I have done, and tons of things I want to try still. My best advice is to go to "junk" stores around lake or waterfront. They have so many cool things that you can use and if you pick through them all, you will find some great bargains.

SInce your cabin is more rustic than "lakey"....maybe more twig crafts......more natural stuff like log stump coffee tables or at least for the pedestal part. Use twigs to frame art and/or your furniture....to hang hooks from for coats.....

My brother's cabin is decorated mostly in garage sale and hand-me-downs. Lots of cowboy and mountain-y stuff like snowshoes, bin of pinecones, antlers, lanterns, beer steins, pictures of mountain animals, Christmas lights acoss the mantle, branding iron, cukoo clock, handmade quilts and afghans--anything they enjoy, fits the theme and is cheap, except the mounted jackalope which was purchased at great expense. The idea is to furnish the place with things they enjoy and not spend a fortune.

Hey we love staying at the lake and I'd be happy to share some ideas I saw. Lobster traps for tables, old buoys hung up, plaid blankets and fabric for curtains, pillows, A welcome stenciled sign that said Welcome to the Lake. Rustic touches with tin lamps and flower vases, books in a bookcase for reading, comfy chairs with cushions, canoe outside, a singing fish on the porch wall with little hanging lights, boat stuff, camping stuff, a place to have an outdoor fire, or one of those freestanding fireplaces,floral wreaths, old mugs, pottery, and pictures of animals.Things collected around the lake area in a small bowl.or displayed on the mantel.Sturdy wood furniture, games, and maybe some furniture made out of a tree trunk. At the lodge they had a huge piano, antler chandeliers, throws, old skis, old gameboards displayed and a ping pong table.

I don't have a beach house but hope to someday...the more rustic the better. In the meantime, I decorated a basement bathroom in a nautical theme. All my stuff is GS. I painted the wooden walls white. My first choice was beadboard, but painting seemed quicker, as I had already started collecting junk. I have a small canoe with shelves hung on the wall full of stone I collected at lake Superior and shells and sand dollars from various beaches. I have fish and lighthouses on a molding close to the ceiling and hung from the wall. I got a little model of a hunting camp from a GS, handcrafted somewhere down south. I painted over "Hunting Camp" on its little sign and painted "Fishing Camp". I removed the rifle and put a little fishing creel, fishing rods and shells around. The piece de resistance is a "Big Mouth Billy Bass" which I've set on motion detection...plays anytime anyone comes in...mostly that would be me!

At a store near a tourist town, they always have these things which look like rowboats cut in half (cut from side to side) and standing on end. They then take out the seats and put in shelves instead. Shelves can be used for knick knacks, etc. They have all sizes of these things and they look pretty neat. From 1' tall for knick knacks, to 3' tall for books.

Actually, they are meant to look like rowboats. But if you stand a rowboat on end, the seats don't make shelves. So they had to rotate the seats to make it a horizontal shelf.

Or take a piece of driftwood, glue on a natural sponge (from your paint dept), make a lighthouse from doweling or something else, glue on some shells, and maybe some moss (to look like seaweed) and you have a little nautical scene.

You can make beach scenes in almost any format: inside a glass jar, on a piece of wood, on a trivet, etc. Take 3 dowels, weathered is better, tie with twine and make the tops of the dowels uneven like dock pilings. Add a tiny seagull, tiny nets, life saving rings, shells, sponge, moss, etc.

You can take a piece of blue glass, add a rock, and put a lighthouse on top of the rock and you have an instant ocean with a lighthouse.
