What era is this chair & does it go with my room style?

I am currently in the process of furnishing the living room of our new house, mostly with thrift store purchases I come across (other than the artwork!) and items from my late mother's home. I found this interesting looking chair yesterday for $25 and really liked the looks of it, so brought it home with me. I think it's style is more mid-century and as such, will fit in fine with the Hollywood Regency look of that era I'm aiming for - but my husband isn't so sure - he seems to think it is just an old 1980s office chair! I would love your opinions/advice! The chair has no tags - only some writing of numbers and letters on the bottom in magic marker. Oh yes - and the head rest is removeable. Any ideas? Thanks!

This is the living area I have to work with. It is still definitely a work in progress. The coffee tables will soon be replaced with mom's vintage brass tray table with teak spider legs and I'm having my husband build a white lacquered room divider similar to the one pictured below to place behind the sofa:

The mirrored console in this photo will soon have my 4.5x5' painting of Dean Martin hanging on the wall above it:

I am waiting on framing these David Klein posters until after the room comes together better. (Please note that the "t.v. tray side tables are only temporary until I can figure out what kind of side tables would look best!):

Mirrored armoire I'm planning on adding asian type hardware & converting into a bar placed against wall behind the yellow chair....

I remember you considering the sofa!

THAT is not an 80s chair. I think it's fun and unexpected, which is always a breath of fresh air. If it's comfy, than it's a win.

Thank you! Now... just what era IS the chair?! My son looked at it and said it reminded him of something from Star Trek or the Jetsons! Maybe that's why I liked it - I always loved those shows. Chairs seem to be my achilles heel at this point. I'm still not sure about the other chair in the photo, either. I want a pair to sit side by side there - but this is what I already had so I put it there just to see how that style would look. Seems to do ok, but there just seem to be so many other styles out there (slipper style, chinese chippendale, regency, etc.?) that might look as good or better. I admit to just getting overwhelmed sometimes with all the decisions! What chairs, what drapes, what rug, what furniture...! Oh - and what size and scale, too! Obviously it's an art to be have a vision and make it all come together. Which is why I'm sure good interior decorators are worth their weight in gold - unfortunately,however, I don't have much of that precious commodity laying about! So, I'm hoping you more experienced members here will be willing to nudge me along as I continue on with this decorating endeavor!

It is ash and ash veneer. I'll go out further on a limb to say it's Asian ash. From the looks of the label, I'll guess it's no older than 25-30 years. It's their interpretation of a Queen Anne style. Casey

I don't think it was actually about trends for me. I suspect I'll like what I like now for most of the rest of my life. I think it was more that I'd never really considered kitchens before. Or my home. I'd just bought my first home when I started pinning and had never had the choice to decide how my kitchen looked before or flipped through kitchen pictures before. For instance, I don't think I'd seen an all-white kitchen before, which is a clean, crisp, appealing look. So I pinned a bunch of those. And then later I found some multicolored kitchens I liked so much more, and now I could never go back to all white. So it was more of a you-have-to-kiss-a-lot-of-frogs thing at work. With no perspective and nothing to go on, I had very little idea of what worked for me and what makes me happy, and I'd seen very little of what was out there. I also knew nothing about kitchen function. But now I've seen a bunch, learned a bunch, and thought a bunch, and I think I can happily marry this general concept for the long haul: lots of windows, green view, decidedly informal low-to-mid-range finishes, overall light and bright in tone, some wood, and some actual color on the walls or cabinets (yellow, green, or a warm blue). The real problem is that my husband hates yellow and green and prefers dramatic, dark, and fancy stuff, and I'm also married to him for the long haul.

1960, looks like the Brasilia line, Premier Collection. Nice find. I have a Brasilia dresser and nightstand set that I scored years ago. The line is usually made from Walnut, or Mahogany. These tables can run in the 1300-1700 range. If you stripped off the old finish, you might find the nice walnut under there. love these black seats in this one, above! I love the black and white rugs in the first two pictures above but am a little doubtful about a shag rug in those colors. You lose the impact of the two next to each other with longer rug fibers and then they're also not easy to keep clean. Google "eclectic living rooms" and you'll see a huge selection that should inspire you to take that next step in your living room.

The chair looks like 60's or 70's...love it...and love the Dean Martin picture!! Also, the room divider...that room will be retro cool!

What a great retro recliner! It will look super in your room. I loved your sofa when you posted it before and the divider looks exciting. I admit, though, that I don't like the zebra-patterned rug. It's too small and the colors are jarring in your room in that size.
