Pale green leather sounds decadent, and so easy to care for. As for your felines, might I suggest the link below? This product wasn't available when we purchased our sectional many years ago.

We have a leather sectional that we love, but I will admit that our two cats did some significant damage to the cushions while jumping off them in the early years. They are part of the family, though, as are my two Westies, who now sleep on top of the back cushions every day, squishing them down. Fortunately, they plump back up easily enough.

Leather is easy to care for, easy to clean, and if this couch makes YOU happy......I say, go for it!!

Get the sofa. Don't get the softpaws. I got them for my cat year or so ago; they just fall off after a very short time, or the cat bites them off. If I could find the ones I have left over (I know they are somewhere around) I'd send them to you to try. At least with leather (I have leather) you can restain or repair. I know there are lots who disagree with me, but I had my cat declawed just to save my sanity and her butt.

Hi, Charl - if you love the pale green leather sofa, go for it! We used to have 2 elderly cats, both with claws intact. I would get upset when they left claw marks on the bed blankets and furniture edges and things and my husband put it into perspective -- you can always buy new "stuff" but your cats are your beloved pets and can't be easily replaced. Once the beloved cats are gone, you'll look at the scratches and wish you had the cats back.

Don't sweat it and buy the leather couch. If you're super concerned, buy some extra leather yardage from the store (yeah, it may not match exactly) and keep it for future replacement cushions. Enjoy that beautiful new couch!

By any chance is it the Almafi sofa at the link below? I saw that one and one called 'Aliza' that come in green. The Almafi has very good review 4.4 out of 5.

Personally I didn't care for the metal legs on the Aliza, as it's just too modern for me, but the Almafi looks nice!

All leather is not the same. Run your own fingernails across it and see if it leaves marks. Actually, if it is on the sales floor, and it is the kinds of leather that gets scarred up, you will know already. Some styles call for that distressed look, but I was careful to steer clear of those leathers when I picked a covering for a custom chair. Interestingly, at EA, where I got my chair (years ago), the more expensive grades of leather were the ones more likely to scuff.

It's a toss-up and there's no way to predict this, but some cats just don't like leather. My two hardly ever go near my one leather chair. Sometimes they perch on the back of it to see out the window, but that's about it. I think the leather is too cool feeling for them; they prefer to snuggle up somewhere.

Yes, my3dogs, it is the Almafi! Super modern-looking and sleek (I had wanted transitional); very light color (I wanted a medium shade); leather (which I had never even considered except for maybe a more "weathered" brown leather for a chair). It astonished me that I liked this thing.

Amy, I'll have to go back to Macy's and do the fingernail test. The floor model did seem to be in pretty good shape, and it was in a prominent place in the store, right on the aisle. I have a tiny fabric sample, but not sure if I can tell quality from that...

It would be a very different look for me, and make me rethink some of the other pieces I'm considering buying. (Like, I'm not sure that kind of traditional-looking media credenza from Restoration Hardware would go anymore.)

Okay, the sofa's still in the running, then. Have to go look again at the chief contender - the Troy sofa from Crate & Barrel. I can get that in a pale green tweed microfiber... maybe more practical? (It's a good fabric - doesn't look "microsuedey" at all.)

I had a cat that did that and put deep scratches in my leather chair. I did not mind the damage so much.

Then I got a cat that decided to use the same chair as a scratching post and really ruined it. The cat could not be dissuaded from using the chair no matter what I did. It is amazing how much damage a cat can to in a short time.
