beekeeperswife: I want to install frosted glass doors in my den, one for the laundry room and one for the bathroom. The room itself is dark and both of the other rooms have windows facing south so I thought the frosted glass would let in some of that outside light. Is that glass at all see through? Obviously don't want that for a bathroom. Yours looks great! Thanks.

OH, YES! Must have a door like that! I wanted the full lenght little panes but the price of those.........well, suffice to say, I brought the original door in from the machine shed and hung it. The "new" door is now in it's former place gathering dust until someone else remodels here and thinks it's a great door. I'm still short one door from the breezeway to the kitchen/basement landing. Once I get a door with a window(s) there I'll have light from that direction, too. I can't figure why they put solid doors in those two places. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Ok, the place is in Avondale, PA-- A&A Lumber. I took my original door in and they pulled out the frosted doors to find a match. Pretty nice.

jeanteach, the glass is NOT see through at all. In fact, I bet you could use it in a bathroom too. I can see a shadow when the light is really bright on the other side and someone is standing right in front of the glass, and I mean right in front of it, like touching it. As far as my cabinet size--I have no clue at this point. If you would have asked me 12 months ago, I would know for sure.

And as things usually work for me, I have been wanting a door like this for a long time. I had read a story on Home Dec forum about someone finding a glass door in the trash, dragging it home, doing something to it to frost the glass herself, and it turned out great. I've been looking in trash piles since....I saw one today. Hard to believe. And even worse--I was driving a Honda--did not take the door.

That's a pretty cool idea. I like the fact that it's not see through but that it will be contributing natural light to the kitchen.

I got a door like that for our bathroom. The glass pattern is called "Rain". My husband is impressed, though it isn't installed yet.

The idea is to let a little natural light into the dark hallway.

Will probably do the same for our downstairs bathroom.

Your whole kitchen is great! I'm not normally a fan of shades on chandeliers, but they really look nice and fit your kitchen!

Love the door! My husband thought of the same thing for our kitchen. We had a solid five-panel door before that led to the basement and side door with window. We put in a fifteen-light frosted door that lets the light from side door into the kitchen. It was worth every penny of the extra money we paid to have frosted glass so we could have the light but not see the basement!
