Yes, give it to me. I don't have issues with the taking on/off of wet bathing suits and my only neighbors are horses and cows :))

We had one right outside our master bathroom. It was about three steps from the door and then two steps into the shower. I think if I'd had to go and wipe up puddles here and there, I would have been less inclined. Privacy was not a big issue. There were other houses around, but we had a tall hedge and it was always dark.

I think the key is to make it easy and to make it a habit. We sort of agreed to push each other to go for a soak as often as possible. As for making it easy, is there another place you could put it? Closer to a door? Could you screen the area with some kind of fence or greenery or both?

Yes we have one. Its on a pad of its own slightly off the patio. Matter of fact I just drained it and refilled it today. We don't use it as much in the hot hot summer months but we still use it. Humm, I hate to admit it but ah la natural here - frankly the soap from suits mucks up the water. We go out in robes quickly get in and then do the reverse. Oops I forgot - an adult beverage goes out with us also!!!

We've had ours for 10 years, use it year 'round though most often in the spring and fall. It rests on a separate section of our patio and is screened on 2 sides with tall arbor vitae and by the house on one. No gazebo overhead. Our yard is fairly private.

We always take towels with us so most of the drying is outdoors - even in winter. A mat just inside along with a change of footwear solves the rest.

Ours is on the deck right outside the guest bedroom, which has direct deck access via a set of sliding doors. We use the guest room as a changing room and it's ensuite bath is our "pool bath" (only we have a hot tub and a creek rather than a pool). We, or our guests, change in the guest room, grab towels from the chest by the deck doors, and head outside. Most of the drying off is done outside. We also have a good door mat to further minimize tracking in the house.

Our deck, like the rest of our house, sits 12 feet above the ground and we have no immediate neighbors, so privacy isn't a major concern. We use our hot tub year-round with the exception of summer. Our summers are just too hot, even at night, to make the prospect of soaking in hot water a pleasant one.

We have one as well. We don't tend to use it in the very hot weather, but when we do, the kids (6 and 8) seem to think it is their personal swimming pool. It isn't much fun to be in the tub with them because of all the splashing that goes on. It is nice to soak in after a hard day of work, though.

I had one at the last house, about 6 feet from the door. But....in Colorado we had to shovel a path in the snow out to it, wear a bathing suit because of neighbors, use chlorine in it(it made us smell like chlorine then we had to bath afterwards), test the PH, then after 5 years the floater rotted(more money spent on upkeep). Mice got in the little hole in the door & built a nest, tunneling through the foam insulation(which we paid extra for)....

I'd rather just turn the jets on in my BIG masterbath tub and have fresh water to get into, NAKED! It seats 2 easily! AND there's a fireplace next to the tub!!! YEAH!!! :0)

My dh came with a hot tub when I met him, and we haven't been without one for more than two months in the nearly 16 years we've been together.

Our two previous homes were in town with close neighbours, but our hot tubs had tall privacy fences around them. Our current home is on three acres in the country - no prying eyes around. Plus, the hot tub is sheltered from the elements in our sun room, which we love. We live in central Alberta (home of four seasons - June, July, August and winter, LOL) and use our hot tub primarily when the weather is cool. Somewhere, I have a picture of dh sitting in the hot tub with it clearly reading -40 on the thermometer behind him! We use suits when we're with the kids, or not when we aren't ;)

We have a low producing well and a septic pump-out (no system; all of our sewage is hauled saway approximately every six weeks). We didn't even bother putting a tub in our master bath. The hot tub is much better suited to our needs.

We love our hot tub. It is right off our deck on a slab of concrete. We took down our fence railing so we could step down into it. We have a fenced in yard but not much privacy around the hot tub, just the house behind it. We haven't come up with a good solution yet for a screen. We live in Iowa and use it mostly year round, we just close it for about 2 months in the summer. It is a great time for togetherness. We have great conversations in the hot tub either the whole family, or just hubby and I. Swim suits with the kids or in the daytime, No suits at night alone or with hubby. It is great to be in it with the snow fallin on our head! I just have to figure out how to handle our deck finish. Scraping snow each winter to get to the hot tub tears up our deck finish. I wish it was a patio or brick. We have considered covering our deck by extending our roofline, but that would be pricey. Hmmm..., I wonder if I could but THIN bricks over the surface of our deck. Has anyone tried this? I wonder if it would be too heavy for the deck. Anyway, we love our hot tub. We purchased it with money from my parents estate after they passed. My dad was practical, so half went to start a college savings for our kids. My Mom would have wanted us to enjoy our money, so we bought the hot tub with the other half. We just didn't want the money to go for groceries or anything. We think of them when we use it now and it sort of honors their memory.

DH and I both had hot tubs in our condos when we met, and when we bought our first house together it had a 40 year old nonworking hot tub that was separate from the pool. One of the first things we did was fill in the old hot tub and build one over the pool, adding rockscape and a waterfall. We love our hot tub!

Water does get tracked in the house a bit when the kids use it, but we enter through the kitchen, which has slate floors, and I usually try to lay a towel down right at the door so it's not too bad.

DH takes his suit off outside before he comes in, for some reason. My little one was doing the same thing but I quickly got her out of the habit, since it might not be as appropriate once she's a teenager!

We had one for about 10 years in the house we tore down -- it was in a sort of screened room off a bathroom (not the master bath). Not the most convenient locale, but we used it at least once a day during cooler months. It had a beautiful view of the lake and because the next door neighbors were occasional weekend visitors, had privacy 99% of the time. In the house that replaced that one we put a new spa in the screened porch off the master. Never seemed to get into the habit of daily use there, but did enjoy it. We don't have one here . . . yet . . . maybe in the future.

We can't move our HT. There are two slider doors on the family room (part of the house behind the white chair) that lead to the deck, we use the door that is on the wall perpendicular to the window you see facing out.

Our deck does get slippery in the winter, with the rain...we've thought about adding non-slip treads, but that would look dumb. When we replace the deck boards we might see if we can find a textured solution.

I never thought of using bathrobes! Duh. The one time DH and I went nekkid in the HT was in the middle of a freeze and we somehow got the HT cover stuck behind the HT and the gazebo. So here we are, bare as the day we were born, in the sleet and freezing rain, wallowing in the mud trying to get the lid up so we could cover the HT. And we were too dirty to get back in the HT!

DH has taken to ditching his wet trunks outside the door, but I'm not that brazen. But if my n'bor DID want a bad scare, he could look over the fence and see me...

I think I'm going to go find some lightweight cotton robes.

Do any of you turn the heat down in the summer? We might consider doing that, make it warm pool temp this time of the year. we're planning to get a new HT in a few years, up the jets. Woohoo!!
