Show Me Your Pet Feeding Stations!!

I have 2 dogs - a yellow lab and a mini schnauzer. I've planned 2 cabinets in our kitchen remodel just for them. One is an 18 inch pull out trash kind of bin but will be filled with dog food and the other is a 15" cab for all other misc. dog stuff such as meds, grooming stuff, frontline, treats, etc. (It's amazing how much dog paraphenalia one can accumulate!)

The one thing that I can't wrap my brain around is how to incorporate their bowls or where to put them.

I would love to see your setup and any other creative things you've done around your house to make life more enjoyable for you and your pets.

Thank you everyone! You know, it's a bit reddish on my monitor too. ;) IRL, it's a hot, hot pink. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look intentional either. I'm leaning toward a deeper red to tie into rug an and artwork. Matching the bar stools is still an option- and I even have the paint for that, but something about red is speaking to me. I think this is essentially the color palette of the area. I'll have to get some color chips today.

I never thought about using a boot tray. We have one in the entryway of course. I've been using decorative placemats, but with two big dogs, placemats don't cut it! lol. Ynnej, I don't have a current picture but our food station for both dogs and cats are in the utility room. Like I said, the dog's food and water are sitting on a vinyl placemat which goes with the decor of the room. Cat eats on top of the dryer. :) IMO, the simpler the better for easy clean-up. I like the picture above, but I can only imagine how much time is spent cleaning the area & keeping the cabs clean.

It's probably dropped off. There were several pics... * Gibby3000: dishes under a desk-like area [FKB, last pic in her "My New Kitchen Features" album] * SusanAndMark: an alcove--complete with water faucet--in the mudroom [FKB, pics 41 & 42] * another had their dishes in a bottom drawer (but how do they get water if the need it?) [don't remember who has this...KitchenKelly? someone else?] We are planning on having the corner of the peninsula open out (full-length doors, no top drawer) and we will keep pet food, etc. in it. The dogs dishes, however, will stay out so they can get to their water at any time. We have a small area on each side of the PR that the dishes fit nicely in (2 dogs, 2 sets of dishes). If you look at the pic below (our almost final floor plan), it's the cabinet in the bottom right of the mini-peninsula on the right.

No, but I think we used too much water to start with. My husband, genius that he might be, went dense when he decided that the hose would be quicker than a spray bottle. Winded up soaking the tree even with the mist attachment on. When we went to flock, the tree was soaked but we still misted the flock to activate it. Next day, the tree was still wet. Think it took a week to dry. But, between the ornaments and flock, it's bent out of shape. Here's two pics I just took. It's been flocked since 12/3.

My uncle has a low pullout that houses the bowls just like in the above pic. He's a cabinet maker so I don;t know if that is a custom piece or not.

We have greyhounds which require raised food/water bowls. We use black 15" iron plant stands you can get at Lowes and place the stainless steel bowls in them. Crazy cheap setup but looks like we got it at a dog boutique pet store.

The last "cabinet" on one wall is actually false doors on the side of an 18"-deep bookcase opening to the breakfast room. The bookcase houses the dog feeding station and the water bowl on its lowest shelf and the cat feeding station on an upper third shelf too high for the dog to gorge herself.

These last two made me laugh and seem particularly appropriate to a feeding station for your two buddies. If space is tight, maybe one could even be directly below the other. :)

I posed a similar query a couple of months ago in the Organizing the Home forum. I purchased a large plastic bin on wheels with a locking lid from PetSmart and it's been really convenient for our needs. One of the solutions suggested was a pull-out low drawer for your pet. Depending on what line of cabinets you are using, perhaps you could have the bowls incorporated into a toe kick drawer? I just asked a KD this very thing the other day and unfortunately it couldn't be done in the cabinet line I was looking at.
