Thanks for all the comments :) I really am delighted with the way the colors are so perfect!! Thank you kitchen remodeling gods (although I suspect that it had something to do with the fact that I had sent our concrete fabricator a picture of the slab originally when I intended to try to match the blue color, and I know he did not want us to paint the sink, so I think he probably took it upon himself to match the color in the granite slab so we'd get it and decide not to paint!)

I will definitely post finished pictures... in several months! Our current timeline is that tiling and flooring for the house will start June 1 and 2. Cabinets go in after. Whole house to be completed some time in December. I take the December date with a grain of salt, because it was originally supposed to be October (not our builders fault- my fault for adding stuff!)

We actually have two book-matched slabs of this granite and they will be going on a 13 foot long island in a butterfly seam pattern, so I am hopeful it will look really cool when it is finished. My dream is something that looks like a scaled down version of this, obviously with only two slabs instead of four :)

So, when it comes time for fabrication, watch for posts from me asking which direction the slabs should go in for the butterfly pattern as that ideas been dancing around in my head for months :)

Ohh, that granite is to die for!

I think the lighter sink is a good idea. Sure you don't want a much more mod space? That countertop won't tolerate rivals, you know.

Florantha are you suggesting my frilly french kitchen should be abandoned for modern? I think the ship has sailed on that idea one marble fireplace, two crystal chandeliers, a whole host of cabinet drawings and a mirrored-fridge ago. I know it's not everyone's aesthetic, but I think (hope) my counter will play nicely with the rest of my french manor style house.

OT did you finish the search for the chandelier?

Sadly, florantha, that issue remains unresolved. We ordered 2 chandeliers for the great room & foyer but when they came we decided they were too small for those purposes, but we still love them and plan to use them somewhere. That somewhere may be over the island, but we're not sure if they will be too big for that since they are around 2.5 feet wide each. We also ordered 1 crystal chandelier at our local lighting store that we love because it was on floor model sale, and we might want to use that for the kitchen but then we'd have to get 2 more and they were $$ so we don't know if we want to spend the money to get 2 more. Plus, we might want to use that one in the dining room. So, long story short... that's all still up in the air!

On the bright side, I ALMOST have kitchen hardware all resolved, provided the knobs I am having cousins from Scotland send over to me work (they were not available in the US at all for some reason)
