I think I am looking for something more colorful though. I am not a fan of gray. I admire it when I see it in the magazines, but I just can't imagine it in my house. (I do WEAR alot of grey though). But maybe I need to stop thinking about the colors I like and think about which ones will actually look good, LOL. I love the name of BM Baby Turtle, I'll definitely look into that one. My problem is that my GC suggests he paint before the cabinets go in, especially since there IS so little wall space. He has to re-plaster some walls too. It would be such an easy job then! He will probably charge me much more if they have to paint at the end of the installation. (He charges everything at cost, on an allowance, adding his fee on at the end). We could paint ourselves, as we always do, but DH makes such a mess and I'd be so nervous myself about getting paint on my new everything!

Well I've been looking & looking & I keep going back to that particular braided rug. But I also found this rug so what do you think? It seems more in line w/ some of your suggestions. My thought though is that it is too busy, especially once I would put my 42' round banana leaf coffee table on it: I have to be honest though, I keep going back to that braided rug. Soshhh - yes things are going well, thanks for asking. After Bombay closed & I was w/o a job I got way off track w/ things at home. Funny how having a job can force one to be more organized at home yet left w/ too much time on one's hands, sometimes things just get away from you! Unfortunately the 1st wk. of my new job I caught the flu that was going around & wasn't up to being as thorough at home as usual for 3 wks. Things are back on track now though.

I thought green right away with your color combo. I love yellow though, but green might be really nice with your color combo.

Jinx seeing the chairs alongside the room really helps...and interestingly, although almost everyone has said black would work no one has gone that route in suggestions, which helps too in a way. I have enough of the raw silk on those chairs by the mirror left to do these chairs, and it has a beautiful sheen that can throw off a bit of purple - but I am concerned about durability (see above) and being too matchy-matchy. I am surprised I also really do like the lighter white look when I see it next to the room, and totally forgot but am finally getting real grown up white silk drapes that will frame out those windows properly instead of sitting inside them - so maybe it would be better to coordinate with those? The fabric is a very subtle cream silk tone-on-tone stripe, but I could match the color with a more durable fabric. This is so much help- thank you all again for your time and suggestions here! I do have one more random question, only because you guys are familiar with the space. I have an old, wooden phone booth that belonged to my dad (he worked for Bell South for 30 years). It it VERY sentimental, it has traveled all over the country with me, and it is going in this space somewhere. It only fits in two places. I had intended to put it where that mermaid picture is, but then I bought that crazy huge carved Mexican bookcase. Is it going to make the room too heavy on that side to have two big, blocky pieces of furniture there? The only other place I have for it is in the entry, which means it would be the first thing you saw when you walked in the room.
