Beach House Paint Help...green, blue furniture & ? walls
Comments (13)I think I would decide what kind of cabinetry you want in the kitchen and go from there. I too have a lake house with lots of paneling. We started with the kitchen which was kind of dark and small so I chose white cabinets to opened it up. From there it was a natural extension to paint all the paneling white to match the cabinets. I left the trim, doors and ceiling beams the original dark stained wood. I feel it has sort of a boat feel of teak and white. I took it one step at a time before making decisions about what to paint out and what to leave as is. I'm happy with my pure white walls. Maybe you could leave your railing stained and add a stained board across where the paneling breaks between the first and second floor. Your patio doors are dark. Maybe you could trim them out in stained wood to match the board above the doors and the railing. Comments (10)In our master bedroom we have RH's Silver Sage on the walls -- and use Ralph Lauren's Sussex Gardens comforter and shams in the summer months. Nice colors for the warmer months! Here's an older photo of our summer bed -- I do have a collection of satin comforters -- so I fold a green one or an orange one at the bottom of the bed. And the lady-in-green portrait moves into the living room for the summer now -- and another artwork lives above the bed! :)...See MoreWhat color drapes would you hang against these green walls?
Comments (9)Thanks---I hadn't thought of the literal cut and paste, but that's a terrific way to get a sense of colors! I should've added one more constraint---this is a double window, so it's too wide for most of the Restoration/Pottery Barrel drapes (though we've found several nice ones there and contemplated trying to sew them into something workable....but are back to ordering custom at this point, hence the color commitment issue). I'm tempted to get a set and try to color match, though. I also much prefer floor-length, but DH thinks it makes the room look smaller than it actually is (because they just about meet the bed). Isn't that counter to the normal drape rule of thumb, though? (I would think that longer makes the ceiling seem higher?) The blackout liner is also a good thought---we'd found one custom place that could do that, but I'll have to keep looking for others. Thanks!...See MoreWhat color would you paint kitchen cabinets, hardware and walls?
Comments (6)The first thing to do is get proper lighting. Change bulbs to LEDs in dayligh color which is 3500- 5000K before choosing colors . As for painting the cabinets unless you have done lots of other cabinet painting having them painted by an actual cabinet refinisher will be worth the money as long as you love the kitchen the way it is. Mt advice woulf be to wait 3-6 months and see how it functions before spending money....See MoreRelated Professionals
