badgergal, thanks for the additional pic and the model of revashelf you used. it loosk like you have framed cabinets, correct? it is indeed very tight down there, but glad that i know it can work, especially with framed cabinets! i was not sure if i should use framed, though my preferred cabinet vendor only does framed. so this gives me hope! mtnfever, thanks for the additional info on your sink setup. your sink is quite unique. i am looking forward to seeing pics of your "new" vintage sink some day! CJ, thanks for the pic of your prep sink. i want to put the garbage pullout in my prep sink as well since i anticipate this will be where most of the mess will be generated. how large is your sink and sink cabinet?

I'd have to agree. Generally, you are not going to touch a .25 for $400... You either need a very high-quality double pane, or a triple pane to reach that. Either way, a reputable company with a professional installation will be higher than that. In addition, beware of looking at U value only. The structural ratings as Sky mentioned should be considered, as well as the shgc. Often times, companies will sell a you a window that is totally inappropriate for your climate, such as a "solar control" package that is meant for warmer climates, but sold in cold climates where it should not be. They do this because the u-value looks great (lower numerically), but it is at the expense of a super low shgc (.18-.23 or so). This could actually be detrimental to overall efficiency.... This phenomenon started when the manufacturers were caught off guard by the 2009 30/30 tax credit qualifications which were completely illogical. Instead of a window with U .31 Shgc .30, you had to actually sacrifice efficiency and go with U .30 SHGC .23 (give or take) just so you could get your $1500 rebate... Big government at its best ;).

Here it is! It's a row house, so long and narrow - the dining room is where the picture-taker is standing, and the living room is even farther back (the seating area you see is the "TV/play area". There are side windows up high. (Errant, they have a 20-month old son, so hopefully not TOO long before they have another LOL)

Flowers, the rootstock on my AL is multiflora, I'm pretty sure--now I'm not so sure. I guess I assumed it was multiflora because Hortico is in Canada--this was in 2013. Maybe it's something else, but the Palatine rose is different in some ways than the trademarked Luise rose. Maybe the rose I have came straight from Tantau on the rootstock they use. I know at the time, people on the forum were saying that Hortico got their roses from many different sources. I prefer Dr Huey for this desert soil, and yes, I have roses where the rootstock changed the blooms to some degree. The blooms tend to be better on doc here, but sometimes there is no difference. I should discuss that on the seasonal thread, maybe. Maybe I'm working up a conspiracy theory--ha. Vapor, who is Peter Schneider? Diane
