Decorative & Tole painting

Need gingerbread patterns for tole painting

Hello. This is my first message since I just joined but I thought by reading through previous posts that lots of great advice and help was offered here. I need some tole painting craft books that contain nothing but gingerbread patterns. I have searched on eBay already but have not found any. Does anyone know of any specific books and/or Web sites where they are sold? Thanks!

I have one called "100% Fat Free" by Nancy Long....lots of cute ones in here....you might find it here.........

That was one of the books I was specifically looking for, but unfortunately, they don't have it at the link you gave me. By any chance, are you done with yours and would like to sell it......? :)

If damage is not superficial, and paint is the only option (veneers intact or secured), I like the look of tole in the Russian lacquer style. Practice first on other things or on materials for this purpose. MichaelÃ¯Â¿Â½s has all youÃ¯Â¿Â½ll need. Once at ease with your brush strokes, then you can go with motifs of your choice -- dramatic or subdued. ThereÃ¯Â¿Â½s a bounty of books by teachers of this technique on websites and bookstores. An internet search of painted furniture using the query term tole painting Russian lacquer will give you some inspiration. Note: Pleeeze do not decoupage. Oh, gosh, Anj, I can only imagine how worried you must have been about your DD. In her mind, she probably thought it was "no big deal" how long she took, and that she was doing something nice walking her brothers home. Hopefully, you will be able to explain to her that you hear about bad things happening all the time, and you NEED to know where she is at all times for your peace of mind and her security. So I've never dehydrated anything? Do you then just add them to soups and sauces when you cook things later? You are such a hard worker and so good about providing good healthy food for your family. I had an email from my middle sister, and she had been canning tomatoes, and making some salsa too. She usually does that every year. She had canned lots of green beans earlier in the season too. DH just reminded me that we will be heading out on our trip in a week. I know it will be fun when we get going, but I'm just not that excited about it yet. Guess I'd better get my lists started and decide what foods I can make up ahead so they are ready to take. I'll have my computer along, so will still be in touch as we travel. We are headed for Iowa to a factory for an installation that will give us a smoother ride and make it easier on the driver too. Then we will drop down into Mo. to visit the relatives. Might go by Silver Dollar City in So. Mo. before we head back. I need to try to come up with some other places to stop along the route home so we won't drive too much everyday! Gets boring to me if we drive eight hours or more in a day--usually good with about six at the most. I feel a little better today, just blowing my nose allot. Hope it goes away soon so I can enjoy little GD on Sunday. Then she will be coming on Tues. to spend four days with us while her folks do the seminar. Since she now goes to school three days a week, I'll get to see what it's like getting up early to get her to school! LOL I've done a little painting today,but not on a Fall item. Just decided to work on a few yard signs to take along on the trip with us. Will use them for gifts as we visit the relatives--they always like that. These are real simple ones with just a couple of little snowmen on them, so I'm doing four at once. LOL Guess I'd better go figure out what's for dinner. I'll catch you later. Belle, I agree about maybe leaving a few things off on a Karen Wisner design--sometimes just too busy for me too! I have several Donna Dewberry ones which are mostly flowers including her "famous" one stroke rose. I have one on roses by Delane Lange and a water color one by Donna Spiegel. I'd love to have more, but the ones I've seen are sorta "pricey" IMHO. Belle, thanks for the vote of confidence on my ablility to paint the birds--I might give them a try someday. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with stacks of books marked with the projects we'd like to do. Isn't it fun to look back through and either find projects that you wanted to do and didn't get around to, or projects that didn't really appeal to you "back then" but are just the perfect thing now! LOL Okay, I need to go get a picture taken of my latest little project and figure out what to work on next. Luvs

I'm afraid the 100% Free by Nancy Long might be impossible to find. Another book people were trying to find some time ago was Donna & Kenna's Cozy Cookies. Another discontinued book - all gingerbread. You could try posting at http://www.toletrader.com

That board is specifically for people like yourself trying to find an out-of-print book or otherwise.

Another book of gingerbread patterns is Pat Olson's Gingerbread Christmas. Another oldie but I happen to know it is still available at http://www.tolehouse.com/books.htm

The postings these last few months on this board and others looking for gingerbread patterns must have been an omen because I recently read in some of my painting magazines that Gingerbread was going to be the crafter's 'in' thing for Christmas possibly overtaking snowmen!

I would LOVE to have copies of any gingerbread patterns. I have a few to maybe swap. I started out years ago decorating my kitchen with gingerbreads, but they just keep on multiplying and are in almost every room of my house now. LOL! I love them and would love to trade, swap, pay for patterns if anyone wanted to share

I have approximately 80 Brand New Plaid Art Booklets dealing with all types of crafting and Tole Painting. I have a new booklet that has a Gingerbread Man Serving Tray and related accessories. This booklet has the full size patterns in the pull out section. I also have Silk Embroidery Ribbon in various mm sizes and many colors.

Hi ssundevill, wow, this was an old post--from way back in 2001. Are you wanting 100% Fat Free or Cozy Cookies (or both)? They talk about both of them in this post.

Let me dig through my painting books. I don't think I have Cozy Cookies, but I just might have the other one.

I'm sure you have already checked on ebay and on www.artistsclub.com for it.

So sorry about your house fire, it would be terrible to lose things you've had for so long.

I've been going through my books and weeding out some of them, so if I have it and am through with it, we'll figure out how to get it to you. Keep your fingers crossed.

Are you interested in other gingerbread patterns too? I have lots of clippings and old painting magazines too that I could check for you.

How did you find this forum? Hope you will keep coming back to visit and share comments and pics.

Luvs, I would like a copy of that book it you still have it. We are painting a gingerbread christmas village for my daughters yard and I am not too crazy about the figures I can get. here are 2 sites for what I am doing, if you wanted to do it for indoors you could just reduce the pattern. I think they will do it for you.

I found my copy of the 100% Fat-Free, not one I would want to part with, but I did try to contact the Publisher and the Author. Not able to reach them, so I contacted the Distributor which is Viking Folk Art Publications. A nice lady named Jan said she would search for it and get back to me.
