Am looking for pics of backspashes using 1x2 subways, anyone...anyone...Buehller?

I just posted above you - I'm putting in 1 x 2 marble subways next week. I'm very excited! But I won't have pics until next week. What are you thinking of doing?

I have 1 x 2 marble tiles in my backsplash. It's been in 3 years now and I couldn't be happier with it. We chose a pale gray grout.

RJR- I love your glass mosaics with the white subway tile. May I ask what color/brand they are? They look like they might work as an accent for me. Kitchen additct:I googled to find your kitchen, and I do remember seeing it before-probably when I had googled for pics of crema marfil backsplashes! I do love the look of the crema marfil and had ordered a sample. However, my sample doesn't look like a "perfect" fit for my granite, but it is very close to what I think would look good.I had considered ordering another sample of a different kind. Yours really goes with yours. Is yours the turkish or Spanish crema marfil? I understand that there are different types and grades, and I wonder if that can affect the shading. thanks Boxer pups for the photos. The first one looks similiar to my cabinet color and granite color. I remember seeing this photo before. In looking at it- I don't think the backsplash does anything special for the kitchen-sort of plain vanilla. I think I'd like something to jazz it up, personally-maybe- like a row of glass mosaics?

I'm considering subway tiles for my backspash but using a layout that is not staggered. In other words not laid like bricks on a house but with the vertical tile edges even from row to row. Does anyone have any backsplash picture with tiles using this layout. Many thanks in advance.

Our granite has movement over the whole surface...no big veins just lots of tiny details. We were originally going to use some accent tiles but they tile people recommended to keep the focus on the granite and not to compete with it. You don;t need your eye to be draw to two different things right next to each other. We went with a beige 3x6, to go with the toasted almond cabs and greyish counter.

I love my WZ tile and have had no problems with them. I've splattered all kinds of things on them (including tomato-based sauces) and they clean up perfectly. We did 1x2" stainless steel just by our cooktop area. FYI, I love both alku and sally123's backsplashes, very, very sharp!

thanks for the pics, they are all lovely back splashes and definitely help--
to answer your question November, we are installing white painted maple with carrara counter tops (surprise surprise) I was looking for a crackled subway. Our back splash will continue up to ceiling behind hood, similar to pics above, only dilemma is the scale because our kitchen opens to family room with "oceanside" glass mosaic tiles around the fireplace. Appreciate any and all suggestions

nancyfay, our glass tile is from The Glass Mosaic Outlet online, color is Blanco. Link is below (which funny enough now has a picture of our install as a sample pic, with permission of course.)
