Show me your Glass tile backsplash..... Please
Comments (11)Unfortunately ours isn't installed yet (a long, sad story that I may yet post today), but I can show you our prototype: From Kitchen Remodel The field tile was our special find. We found it on close-out from the manufacturer Unique Building Concepts at $2/SF. They had a little more than we needed, and we bought it all. The mosaic strip is cut from a 12x12 sheet also from UBC, and is called Nutmeg Versailles. Some of the tile matches the field tile. We couldn't leave well enough alone, though, and the teal 1x1s are added in, as is a copper 2x2 from Landmark Metalworks that will go in each section. The bronze liners are from Dal-Tile Maniscalco (I think that's the brand). We also have some copper quater rounds from Landmark that aren't in the prototype to be used in exposed outside corners. The switchplate that you can see at the lower right of the prototype was handpainted by an artist who has a company here in Denver called Taken for Granite. His specialty is matching granite patterns, but I think he did a great job matching the glass tile, given the difference in materials. We're going to have him do all of our switchplates/outlets. We thought we'd be done this week, but now it's looking like April at the earliest....See MorePlease show me subway tile backsplashes w/ light wood cabinets
Comments (6)RJR- I love your glass mosaics with the white subway tile. May I ask what color/brand they are? They look like they might work as an accent for me. Kitchen additct:I googled to find your kitchen, and I do remember seeing it before-probably when I had googled for pics of crema marfil backsplashes! I do love the look of the crema marfil and had ordered a sample. However, my sample doesn't look like a "perfect" fit for my granite, but it is very close to what I think would look good.I had considered ordering another sample of a different kind. Yours really goes with yours. Is yours the turkish or Spanish crema marfil? I understand that there are different types and grades, and I wonder if that can affect the shading. thanks Boxer pups for the photos. The first one looks similiar to my cabinet color and granite color. I remember seeing this photo before. In looking at it- I don't think the backsplash does anything special for the kitchen-sort of plain vanilla. I think I'd like something to jazz it up, personally-maybe- like a row of glass mosaics?...See MorePlease show me your marble backsplash
Comments (15)Thanks everyone - these are very helpful. I am so stuck on the backsplash - my kitchen is dark ... I know I want white cabinets and white ceasarstone (well, I WANT marble but my husband is not in agreement) but I'm worried about matching the ceasarstone to the marble. The Blizzard color seems to be the closest match but you never know what your marble subs will look like exactly. My designer is pushing for an odd size - like Walker Zangers 2 X 8 or the smaller ones 1 X3 is it? Anyway, it is hard to imagine so here I am looking at pictures in the middle of the night. MADNESS!!!...See MoreShow me your multi-colored subway tile backsplash
Comments (24)olivertwist - thank you-it is my favorite thing in our kitchen. It was easy to install also (it comes on a mesh). I think they have 4 variations, so check the link to see if there is another that you like better. They are all quite different. Be sure you get samples in person. You can also 'enhance' it with a certain kind of sealer that deepens it but we chose not to. I wouldn't say a lot of green. When I look at it I see quite a bit of variation but if I had to pick one color that stood out I think the slate gray does because its darker than the others. There are red (some moving into a pink if you can believe that) tones, clay or an olive green color, orange/rust. I have attached a couple of close ups I just took. The first one is with flash and the under cabinet lights on. The next is with the uc lights off but the kitchen light is on. If you want one in natural light I can catch one tomorrow since it's already pitch dark out....See Moreflgargoyle
