Wall to Wall Carpet -- Fake Sisal???

We need wall to wall carpet in our master bedroom/sitting room. I am trying to find something that looks like sisal, but is very, very SOFT for us and our kids to still hangout and play on! Any advice of what to get?

Check out the wool carpets that look like sisal. Beautiful, soft, and spendy.

Wool is softest, some of the nylons aren't bad, but olefin will be almost as scratchy as sisal. (And they are ranked that way in price W, N, O)

Within Mohawk's line, I only know of one sisal look and as boxers said it is olefin and not soft at all (it is very durable though). We have had a number of sisal styles over the years, but while they can have a pretty cool look, the market for this look is very narrow, and it is tough to get significant sales. Good luck. Looks like the carpet comes in 15 colors, which can be seen HERE Sorry, although I am copying the web page address, it won't take you to that type of rug. Summer Fog is the lightest gray tone - This is Magnolia Bud - Have you ordered the sofa yet? I see that the Pottery Barn sofas can be covered in many neutral fabrics. I Iove both of these — especially polypropylene that resembles sea grass. But I fear both options may become scratching posts to our cats. I probably should stick to a non-loop carpet. I do love the basket weave patterned carpets.

olefin will be almost as scratchy as sisal.

YMMV, BIG TIME. I always had olefin/polypro rugs up until about 4 years ago (I certainly didn't know anyone who could afford a wool rug, with the exception of homemade braided rugs) and I definitely spent my share of time down on the floor on those rugs playing with critters and kids I was babysitting, canoodling with sweethearts, etc.

rdas, I am hunting for the same kind of carpet for two rooms.
First, a loop most resembles sisal. Start there and hunt for the softest, best quality you can find and afford. Typically these will be Berbers. They will not be luxuriously soft like a cut pile or plush, though ; it's the price we pay for being au courant. :>/ As an aside...ya just know it's going to be passe the moment we install it since it's now featured in every type of home in every magazine! Ah well.
Due to my dogs nails, a loop makes me a little nervous so I am looking at the next best thing for simulating the sisal appearance, which seems to be a cut/loop combo. That way if a loop gets a pull I can simply cut it to blend with the other cut yarns. Shaw had some that come pretty close to that look in their Tuftex line...if it's called a line.

I have a wool blend sisal-look carpet in my Living room and study. It is made by Godfrey Hirst and is 50% wool and 50% PET (Polyethylene terephthalate)) polyester. It is comfortable and soft underfoot - although I did feel a 100% Merino wool sisal that was HEAVEN to touch. I bought it three years ago and it still looks great, but it is in a low-traffic area.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it shows every speck of lint and dirt. It think it would be great in a bedroom, but thought I would mention it because your kids will be playing on it. You may want to consider something with some various flecks in it - it will be more kid friendly.
