Ladderback Wing chair with rush seat at hamilton Inc????
Comments (5)Thank you for the link linley! I saw the chair in person while traveling, and it was very wide, came up high behind the head, and was very comfortable. I also thought it was interesting looking in person, and I normally do not like wing back chairs. I did see the Calico Corner version but it is a bit short behind the head for being "the" chair for reading a great book and wanting to be really comforable. I also thought it was a chair that would be easy to move about as my reading nook cannot see the TV, and if we had guests over watching a movie, I could slide it over and it would be a really comfortable chair for watching a movie as well. I am slowly putting the house together, piece by piece. It still has a ways to go, but like so many others, I want it to be somewhat put together for the holidays. But I am not as stressed/nor overwhelmed as I was. I am beginning to see the effect of layering. That when each piece goes in, I hyperfocus on "that" piece...is it right, if I looked more, could I find something "better". I am now seeing as lighting, art, fabric etc. goes in, you do not focus on that one piece, but on the room as a whole. I still wish I could find the perfect antique piece when I want it, and not have to settle to fill/finish a room with a reproduction piece, simply because I am not willing to invest years in trying to locate "the"piece. Thank you again for the link. P.S. Do you think the chair is unattractive? You can be honest. It is outrageously priced, and I could easily move on and choose something reasonable....See MoreRefinish or not?
Comments (18)Thanks, everyone for the feedback! I like the ideas you've all given, and you've made me feel like refinishing ma be worth a try. Bronwynsmom, I thought about cream as well. I like painted furniture. I have the black Bradford desk, from pottery barn, in my office. Depending on what my new place will look like, it may be in the next room. Do you think the cream will look okay if the black office furniture is next door? Oaklyoak - thanks for the welcome! I don't have a picture of the room the table will be in. I'll probably be moving for a new job, and I want something smaller. Right now I have a breakfast table and this table in the real dining area, and i don't need two dining areas, so I want to consolidate. My little green table has seen better days, so I thought I may retire it to the garage for a craft table, and use this instead if I can make it work. Outside playing - you are so right about the hardware! I think that would help out a lot. Snookums - my style is eclectic, I suppose, but my furniture has more traditional lines - not country, but relaxed. Nanny2a - I'm not familiar with chalk painting, but I'll do a search!...See MoreRush counter seats, cats and do these chairs make sense (pics)
Comments (13)suzanne-def going to look into the LL Bean mats. Enduring thanks for the game room furnishing tip-I'll see if there is one in our area. All the chairs I've tried in the furniture-dinette stores are around 200 to 300.00-too pricey for us at this time. Everyone above-thanks for confirming what I thought-Rush and cats do not mix. Really like the chairs but I've learned my lesson-it's not all about what you love! How about the Shaker chair below? It has tape instead of rushing and they are well within our price range. Has anyone sat in one? I'd love to try one and see if they are comfortable but they are in the Gaithersburg Maryland area and the chairs are not refundable. Open to suggestions for comfortable, cat proof chairs that will fit in the small space between my peninsula and dining area. My DH is against stools-but I could prob. order two stools and two chairs. He does not need a big chair-he's quite slim. :)...See MoreOld maple chairs with woven rush seats
Comments (11)Thanks for responding. Most of you agree with DH who thinks a good cleaning is all this furniture will need. The seats are in amazingly good condition. Built to last, for sure. Thank you again. Wow. I'm a little shell-shocked. I wandered off the yellow brick road, and it took me a few minutes to realize what had happened and to find this post in this strange new land. It feels like Godzilla has eaten gardenweb alive... I hope that all of your wonderful, helpful advice will still be here when the dust settles. I thank you all so much for every bit of help I've received over the last few years. Bless you all!...See Morelindac
