matte paint turned shiny
Comments (5)A brush touch-up over any rolled paint will look much different. The best way to touch-up matte paint is with a sponge brush or a piece of cheesecloth. You'll want to touch-up with two or three light coats of diluted paint. Dab the paint on. Do not brush it or wipe it. Use one tablespoon of paint and 1 teaspoon of clean water. Dilute, stir and apply. Michael...See MoreDark cabinets - keep light countertops or go dark?
Comments (3)Welcome to the kitchen forum! About posting pictures -- have you seen the instructions in the "ReadMe" thread (link below)? The key is to understand that there is no photo hosting capability on this site; you can't "attach" photos the way you could in an email. You need a website like photobucket (or, my favorite, Google's picasa) where you can upload and store your photos. Then you can add in links to them in the messages you post here. About your countertop question: how much light is there in the kitchen? Are there multiple windows? If not, I'd be careful about going really dark with the counters... but that is a personal preference. It's not as if there are rules about how to make these choices. If only there were -- then it wouldn't be so hard to decide! Are you sticking with laminate for the counters, or considering other materials? Comments (7)pattisue-oh I love leathered with some color and movement. That looks AWESOME. Old house we had polished stone and did a matte slate backsplash. Liked it This house I have leathered stone and I am doing a polished/gloss splash. I think the contrast will be nice. If you haven't had leathered before oh I do love it. Have you seen tiles or pictures that you like? Try to find some pics and see if that helps you make up your mind....See MoreBest "value" for a black (or dark grey) matte countertop?
Comments (8)I have spent the last 5 hours going through an enormous pile of British shelter magazines for my clipping files. Of course, that meant totally re-reading them once more! I was struck at how often slate was used for kitchen countertops. I just Googled slate and liked what I saw! <http://www.countertopguides.com/guides/pros-and-cons-of-slate-countertops.html> I have no idea where they are price-wise, but if I wanted a dark countertop in a honed finish, this would be my choice....See Morenatal
