Vintage Valentine Postcard - Pics
Comments (9)I wouldn't frame them...I would put them out on easels, seasonally. Somewhere in this house of drawers, closets and boxes I have a bunch ( more than several) vintage valentines..many 3 dimensional with fold outs some very fancy postcards and several "flapper" type cards of the 1920's. When you don't have them on display all the time they become special when you do get them out. I have seen them framed casually backed with an old lace handkerchief and a piece of jewelry of the period...maybe a locket... Fun to display....and fun to put away when it's time for Easter. Comments (11)Nanny, that's a pretty pattern, but with a cat who likes to sit in the windowsill, I can see the silk get shredded. lol. Although, it made me realize the material has to be lightweight due to it blowing when the windows are open because of the shelves nearby. EG,oh my! I may have to try that. I could experiment on the backdoor rollershade first, and I do have some red and while gingham grosgrained ribbon here. :) What type of glue?...See MoreIs this print too small? (pic)
Comments (17)Yeah, framed (had art.com frame it before shipping it out) it was like $100ish. I took it to a framing shop yesterday to get an estimate - $425. I will definitely checkout the link above! When I selected this, I spent HOURS looking through art.com. I did compile a list of about 15 prints I liked. If I can find that list, it will at least be a starting point -- I can narrow it down by size. I have a bathroom this print should work well in. (I'm hesitant to add monster matting around it, just because the large mat/small print looks "contemporary" to me -- but I can't say why!!) :) Funny thing is, I blocked these dimensions out on posterboard and hung it in the space, and it looked OK. Must have been an illusion thing since the posterboard was white and the print is dark. Redsox, the artist is Norman Wyatt Jr. This print is either "Row of Trees I" or "Row of Trees II"....See MoreNew Vintage Bath - Black/White question (pic)
Comments (21)Hi Lauren, What a great bathroom and such great choices you made for fixtures. I agree completely with those who say not to worry about the exact matching of the whites. They never do because porcelain is made of clay and the colors of clay vary from different parts of the country, not to mention all over the world. That's just part of the character of the room. If you're looking for ways to inject some more black or a color into the room I'd suggest adding a small double doored wall cabinet on the window wall just above the tile edge. You can find them ready-made at a Marshall's or HomeGoods /TJ Maxx in white and off white. Inexpensive. I'd paint it a gloss black and use shiny chrome knobs to coordinate with your hardware. Big impact against your soft S.S.walls. This would be a great place to store extra toilet tissue and things that you'd like to have handy but behind closed doors. I had a medicine cabinet exactly like yours in a former house and we considered facing the wide band top and bottom between the moulding with a black and white herringbone patterned mosaic tile or with some deco mantle tiles from an ebay seller called madeineurope 2127. INCREDIBLE tiles for anyone doing a new bath or looking for something wonderful to incorporate into a tiled kitchen back splash. He specializes in deco and art nouveau tiles. Finally found an original black and white French deco patterned fabric that we transferred to the wide bands and it looked wonderful. Lots of compliments. It literally became a piece of period looking artwork above the sink. I wouldn't change the outlet covers and wouldn't stress over the rad.either. Again, all a part of the charm. Great job!...See Moresis2two
