With the checkerboard floor and the wallpaper you have now, I think that a larger check might be a bit much. If you don't want to go solid, how about a nice ticking stripe? Still had the vintage feel and it comes in your colors.

I think you could do the buffalo check or gingham but I really like the idea of a red ticking stripe. It would help break up the squares.

I never thought about ticking. All the ticking I've seen have faded stripes. Not sure about stripes. What about a white and pale green or yellow check? Ido have some pale yellow tile behind the stove and sink.

I don't think I want more red.

If you wanted to try another type check or plaid other than the large Buffalo check, (which I love, too), you might consider something like this. There are many different shade variations in this 3" check, and this fabric makes a beautiful drapery.

I can see panels on the dining room window but the kitchen window with the arched cornice is just too perfect now to add curtains. I think a 1" wide black velvet or grosgrain ribbon glued to the line above the scallop, either on the wood insert or just above, would look great. The above the window I might use a metal art piece the color of your faucet that mimics the curve the of the arch. Just some ideas.

Nanny, that's a pretty pattern, but with a cat who likes to sit in the windowsill, I can see the silk get shredded. lol.

Although, it made me realize the material has to be lightweight due to it blowing when the windows are open because of the shelves nearby.

EG,oh my! I may have to try that. I could experiment on the backdoor rollershade first, and I do have some red and while gingham grosgrained ribbon here. :)

What type of glue?

I paperclipped ribbon onto the blind. Love it! I can see three blinds in a row with ribbon. The ribbon is where my eye goes instead of looking at the hardness of the window area.

What about a wider ribbon for a more noticeable effect?

What type of glue do I want to use? I want to order just the right ribbon and glue ASAP.

Bumping for another question. The ribbon on the blind is 7/8". I'm thinking of going with 1.5" for a more noticeable look.

Thoughts? Oh, and I'm in the process of taking the teapots down, which is what I was doing yesterday when the pic was taken.

I think a wider ribbon would be good. However, I'm thinking the red in your kitchen is a deeper, darker red than the bright red on the ribbon. I'd look for something in that shade.

The floor and backsplash are deeper reds, but the accessories I have on the countertops are red red. Somehow, it all blends in.

I found a vintage style ribbon with a little pattern of green and red, so now I'm wondering if I want a different pattern, or keep with the gingham?

What about Washi Tape? Would I be risking it big time if I tried it? With my two left hands and all? lol
