I need your opinion

DH and BM took ss to 2 specialists last Tuesday both doctors said yes ss has asthma and put him on some new meds... BM has not dropped of ss inhaler (hes 6) DH said he would get it but she said she would handle it... OK so when???

BM lives with her parents although she makes 70,000.00 a year, her dad smokes in the house he has said its his house and he will smoke if he wants to...

MY QUESTION- how long should dh give bm to find a place of her own before he says anything else about ss health?

DH and I are fighting over this issue, because it mkes me sick knowing she doesnt care enough about her son to do something about her living arrangements.... I want to call DCF and report her for neglect? any ideas...

Get a second inhaler and keep it at your house. Okay, now for the harder part... try and find out if what a court orders/allows in terms of living situation is altered by the child having a disease which is being directly put in jeopardy in his current circumstances (i.e. asthma and smoking). I'm betting it does change things! The courts can't order Grumps to stop smoking (let alone enforce it), but they may be able to order BM to move out of there or for the kid to come live with you in a non-smoking household. Maybe the doctor can talk to her about her living in a smoke filled house. It won't go over well coming from her exhusband.

A judge probably will be interested; but it will be expensive involving expert testimony and interrogating the grandparents on the stand who will swear they smoke outside or only in parts of the house the child never visits.

My son had asthma and had twice to go by ambulance to the ER. Has that happened? There can also be a dispute on 'how' severe his asthma is.

Something that seems like an open and shut case discussing it in your kitchen, can turn out to be really iffy in a courtroom. And expensive. Judges are so reluctant to change custody.

Calistoga, I know I wont get a full coverage in only a yearÂ I just want it to look less like an empty lot and more like a recently planted semi-cared-for area. Empty spaces will get filled in (mulched!) with fallen leaves. If I start seeds now (I actually do have some creeping thyme and rosemary), IÂll have 4-5 months to grow them out in flats. Isn't that enough time? Or are you saying I should be planting outside from flats right NOW? That would be difficult, because the "soil" stays pickaxe hard until it starts raining regularly. Cagary, I briefly looked into hydro-seeding, but it would be quite expensive. A homeowner a few miles up my road did it last year and I didnÂt really like the effectÂ it looked vaguely industrial/unnatural somehow. Besides, I love to garden, so that would take all my fun away! (And believe me, until we get to interior decorating, this will be the ONLY fun part of this project for me.) SusanC, indeed, when I realized how overwhelming the eucs were, I started to do research on eucalyptus understory. (The Australian National Botanic Gardens website is incredible!) I found a lot of promising plants, but most of the seeds were really hard to find, and I donÂt know how successful they would really be. If we were going to stay in this house for longer, IÂd be more willing to experiment, but at this point I think it's safer to go for plants IÂve seen growing well in the area. BTW, thanks so much for the referral to the Winter Sowing forum! I didnÂt even know it existed. IÂve been gardening my whole life, but grew up in NYC, so IÂve never had the seasons (or the space) to try winter sowing before. I'm inspired! Thanks to for taking the time to reply you guys; I really appreciate it!

Thank you for the courteous response, Annie. I love yellow, so I might give that some consideration. I've always been partial to colors that are bright or soothing. It's a psychological thing with me. Dark colors tend to depress me, so the "dark color" allotment will be limited to my charcoal-ish floors and the black hardware on my white cabinets.

I agree with MAYBE. 1.5 inches can be noticable on its own just with the cabinet. But as mentioned above, there are other things that make it really noticable. ie: is there a light centered above it that hangs down? a symetrical sink may not be a problem, but one with a centered faucet may be. Another factor you may find is how big is the kitchen? in a galley kitchen, you might not notice as you're not standing accross the room, dead on, taking it all in. on a bigger kitchen with the window and sink as the focal point, it may make more of a difference. As much as anyone on here can say, No, won't be a problem.... it really is a personal thing. What bothers some people won't bother others. I have a cabinet maker who is bothered by symmetry to no end including pushing to have the top drawer line go around the room to include a false drawer in the corners and the cabinet we have that is full height upright cabinet. its a peeve of his, it actually looks really nice, but is a bit extreme.

Sandraville1, You've gotten excellent advice from knowledgeable gardeners. May I second the raves about Rozanne. If I could only grow one geranium it would be Rozanne. Please consider the salvia May Night. It is as dependable as any perennial can be. Here's what makes May Night so good: great winter hardiness, wind proof, does not sprawl with nice orderly growth habit (14" X14"), and one of the few perennials that pushes up fresh basal growth all season long, along with new lateral growth on earlier growth, if dead headeded and watered/fertilized faithfully. May Night is great along with Rozanne in front of roses, hiding the roses's naked knees, which is a big part of the function of your perennials in front of your roses. The color scheme you may find most harmonious in your perennial selections are: blues, purples, pinks, and whites. These colors will add class, coolness, and elegance to the bed, complementing the roses, the focus plants. I would avoid: reds, oranges, and yellows. These colors will create activity, heat up the bed (visually), and draw the eye away from the main subject, the roses. IMHO, you cannot have enough white perennials. They create an atmosphere of refinement and clarity no other color does. Here are my white flowered perennial recommendations, all top growers, and short in stature for the front of your roses: Salvia 'Snow Hill' - does sprawl, but sends out new basal growth all summer Campanula 'White Chips' Coreopsis alpina 'alba' Centranthus river 'alba' Anthemis 'Susannah Mitchell' Phlox paniculata 'Flame Blue' - strange name for a palest blue, almost white flower Chrysanthemum superbum: 'Tinkerbelle' 8", 'Lacrosse' 12", and 'Snowcap' 14".

They have 50/50 custody and in their custody agreement it states that each parent will make sure that the son lives in a happy and healthy home...

The doctor told bm that their should not be any smoking around the child at all if they want him to get better.. Shes a nurse she already knows this. She had originally told dh that he brainwashed the doctors, but after seeing the chest x-ray herself she believes the doctor...

i guess im just sick of seeing my ss suffer the wrath of bm and her selfishness.... Dh and I are fighting because of it... They are making me crazy
