Wooden Bowl and small pot

Here's a wooden bowl I did with a slight oriental theme,found the little statue at Hobby Lobby with the hands broken off so I thought hey I can use the head.I paid 2.00 for it.Left the bowl wooden ,the little pot is just a plain jane easy thing.The bowl is 15" across doesn't look like it in photo tho..

Well good grief! Just LOOK at the uniformity of those tiles on the pot w/perfect grout lines and smooth edges. Oh to be so exacting in my work. Love the bowl too. Great idea. What is the handle from? Your work is so professional.

What about Juniperus procumbens 'nana'? Easy to find, genetically vigorous, hardy there w/o protection, mounding/trailing, responds well to pruning. OH! I have lots of gorgeous Shimpaku junipers (J. chinensis 'Sargentii') I started from cuttings growing on for bonsai in my raised beds. I'd be happy to send you one. They can easily be trained to cascade & are easily pruned to a mound-shape. The procumbens trails/cascades and mounds naturally, though. Procumbens - light green, Shimpaku - dark green. I have a really big (almost 10') Ficus b. to prune for a lady tonight before the Red Wings beat Chicago (again), but I'll try to get a couple of pics of the plant to share. I know you'll love it. It's probably THE most favored plant for bonsai because of its MANY attributes. It's not fussy, either. You'd just have to be sure you pair almost any evergreen with plants that don't like it too wet & use a fast soil. Al

My goal is that people receive food as hot (or cold) as it is intended to be. I warm dinner plates in the oven and plate food at the cooktop. DH likes his dinner really HOT -- sometimes I will pop his plate into the microwave for a final zap! before serving it. The worst custom ever is the ceremony where the Lord of the Manor plates everyone's meal from platters and serving dishes at the head of the table, sending the first plate entirely around the table to reach the person on his left, etc., etc. until everyone has a nice cold plate of whatever. Then HE serves himself (some lukewarm food), and only then can anyone eat.

Creating a "bowl" with potted plants?

Firstly, don't use a bowl with no drain hole. You will only be asking for trouble. Secondly, you don't HAVE to use gritty mix, I have very few of my plants in it, but the mix has to be well draining. A mix of equal parts potting soil and perlite would work also. Good luck. Christopher

It was broken off a bowl at Hob Lob also,paid 1.00 for it..broken is good!

Love those, the bowl is very pretty and so original looking. I would have never thought of putting that head on it, great idea. And with the handle too it looks beautiful. So does the pot. Very nice pattern, and so well done.

I LOVE BUNNIES!!! Pkay, back to your creations, I think plain jane is a theme with the oriental look, and that bowl is perfect! The pot is great too, love the flowers!
I really like the flower in the bowl as it looks like a dogflower, my Provincial Flower here in BC.

"Plain Jane"??? So far from that....these are just BEAUTIFUL!!! I, too, am envious of your plate stash and how do you get your tiles so even and smooth?!? The bowl looks like the 2 I recently got at W*mart for $4...I had some ideas, but now you've given me something new to think about! GREAT JOB!!!

Wow cindiloo you got a deal,wish I had paid that for this bowl,I paid 14.oo just for the wooden bowl at marshalls..maybe i better hit walmart. thank you everyone for your kind words.

WOW...busy you've been! Love them both....I love doing bowls, but haven't in some time..this inspires me to do another.......Love that pot too! I usually get my wooden bowls at thrift stores or flea mkts......pounce on them when I see them cheap! Beautiful work as usual!!!

Ok, I am in LOVE with BOTH pieces!!! Ooooh la la!! I have to agree with Slow - first thing I thought of was the beautiful uniformity and leveling of the grout and OH! that bowl. Nice pieces went into it. Just right!

Annie! That pot is amazing! How in the heck do you get your plates nipped so perfectly? I like the bowl too. Looks like a neat container for fortune cookies!

Surely you mean that the pot was a plain Jane before you started? It's far from that now! It doesn't have a ton of colors or bling, but I really like it. It's elegant not plain!
