Does anyone know which blog these photos are from? I saved the pics some time ago and even visited the lady's site but didn't bookmark. At least I think it's a blog.

I don't read in the bathroom either, Marygail, but have heard the bathroom called "the reading room" for so long, that was my first thought when I saw it. I had hoped to be able to use it and a lot of my other old things, and I hate that it took so long, but circumstances didn't dictate until now. I haven't lived in a real house in many years. I have often said, I hope I live in a house again before I die.

Screening might have been a good idea. But the raccoons are clever, as you said. Long ago, when my family stayed at my uncle's cottage, my dad would put his minnows in a minnow bucket that was on a chain and in the lake. Looked like this one: Well, the raccoons would come at night, open the trap door at the top and eat the minnows! So then they found a way to lock the trap door shut. The raccoons then removed the whole minnow bucket from the lake, tried to get the door open, couldn't and all the water went out of the bucket. And the fish all died! I think they then started to attach the minnow bucket to the boat instead of the dock. Darn raccoons! So my friends decided to keep the fish inside one winter. Never again! The aquarium required a lot of cleaning. So now they don't keep fish in the pond anymore.

My roses do not go dormant much in the winter, as we are in such a warm climate. If they go dormant, it is in the heat of summer. However, I have not ever seen red canes on this rose - I just ran out and looked at it to be sure. The new growth and canes are apple green, and the old old canes are sort of grey. Here is an old pic I was trying to find the other day to show the decrepit garage next door ( it still looks just like this), which is the reason I planted roses between it and our back garden. I took this photo out one of our windows, so it is a bit fuzzy. Jackie

I just like how you left them without drapes or blinds. The only problem I have with my door windows is then at night it's a big dark black blob. But I posted on here for suggestions and the wreath idea emerged . . . My doors might as well be windows for how rarely they get opened in the winter. Although I do unfortunately have a tendency to burn things and they are adjacent to the kitchen so they do get opened on the odd occasion. When my mother lived here the blinds were almost always closed. One of my big changes was to keep them always open. Has made a big difference in the feel of the house, with at least some more natural light entering. We also eat in there a lot, unlike my parents who only dined in there on special occasions and used the table for "projects" at other times of the year. We shifted our "project" table into the family room so that we can "eat classy" in the dining room . . .

That's it! Thanks,all.

Love the house, not so much all the white, I could never keep it clean; and I wonder about dust and mildew if one didn't occupy it for lengths of time. But - gorgeous all the same.

What I want to know is who comes and clears out the spider webs??? They sprout overnight in my garden shed and in the garage and on the patio. I notice in all the pretty magazine pics you never ever see a web. I think I need to hire a spider cleaner to come over every morning and beautify my spaces :)

When I first saw this article months ago, it inspired me to add a small loft to the glasshouse I was building. Here here is before and after decorating. I went shopping in my house and garage and garden for items to put up there.

May still require some tweaking as I unpack from the move.

Please don't tell me I brought the blue bottles north to no avail? Email me when you think you might want to come for them. Look forward to meeting you, BTW.

And, if anyone needs reminding about the potential for SHEDS, I remind you of the book by Deborah Prinzing, about sheds. It is available thru Amazon, of course. Lots of ideas that can be adapted.

My Teahouse is the "shed" I love and fantasize about now. I will take my time furnishing it too. Maybe over the winter will be a good time, since all my tropical plants will be in it for safe keeping.

No ml, not going anywhere. Just haven't unpacked all the boxes from last year's move! I'm down in Nashville for the weekend, but will by back up north Sun through Wed next week. Then I have to go to western MA for a tennis tournament. Where are you located and we can plan to meet. Can't wait for those blue bottles. I thought I had a lot, but then I got a bottle tree and it's half empty!!!! Look forward to seeing you too and I will send that email.

That's really pretty rafor. I've wondered about the spider webs too, especially when there is so much stuff in hard to reach places.

I remember reading a blog one time and a room of the lady's house was going to be featured in a magazine. She said the crew came out and cleaned and staged the day before the shoot.
