Need Ideas

A friend of mine has just reconnected with a daughter and grandchild. I had her trace her grandsons hand on a piece of paper and asked her to give me a copy so I could sew something special for her. I had done this in the past with friends, nieces, nephews and had embroidered dishtowels, potholders, etc...does anyone else have any other ideas that could be done using the little ones outlined handprint...or any sayings that could be placed on the project..or maybe you have done something similar..could you share please? Thanks in advance!

A friend did this for her mother - Made appliqued handprints on a cushion cover, embroidered child's name and age on each and the year. The hands formed a ring....two of the kids were twins, and then the baby's hands were interspaced so it formed a circle. It was done in red with Christmas print hands .....each hand was different fabric. At the bottom was a wide ribbon just stitched on...so think a handwreath and bow idea. I hope this makes sense, the result was very nice and sits on my friends bed.

Depends on how old the child is? You could make a baby quilt with the hands in the middle of the quilt.

Boy, I don't know. I have never been good at 4 season planting in Wisconsin. I have grown Jester Millet which dries in the late fall to a light brown and lasts through much of the winter, but that isn't really evergreen. There are also ornamental grasses, some of which get massively tall that will brown, but maintain visual interest and sway about in the wind over the winter and then you cut them down in spring and they regrow. you are probably best going to a well stocked nursery and asking what they have for ornamental grasses. Al (Tapla) seems to be taking a sabatical right now (hope all is well, Al), but he would certainly have some ideas for evergreen trees that would be suitable. I don't know much about evergreen trees so won't comment there. I tend to stay away from them as many seem to dessicate and turn orange/brown in my Wisconsin winters. A condition they never really recover from.

We definitely need a plan with dimensions. My first thought is to put the fridge & freezer on opposite ends of that back wall with the range centered between them. You'll want a pot filler, but it shouldn't be a problem as there's already water there for the fridge. Put the microwave and warming drawer in the island, and leave the sink where it is. This way you don't need to move any walls, or mess with the floors if you don't want to. And I would definitely remove that crazy soffit over the island! :-)

It sounds like those people may have two 36” over/under Sub Zero fridges. I had one in my former home...was still going strong at 25 years old, when we sold the house. In our new home, we put in a 42” French door SZ. Once again, terrific refrigeration. Not a lick of trouble after 4 years, unlike other brands complained about on this forum. I expect this fridge will be the long lasting workhorse our former fridge was. A big plus...Sub Zero has the best customer service in the industry. Since you stated that you and your husband are willing “to spend some money,” I urge you to find a store, where you can check them out.

Hello! In this situation it's best to do an asymmetrical gallery wall much like the photo below. If the art work is not perfectly aligned and centered then everything will blend together and the vent will be the last thing people look at! Good luck!

How about the handprints appliqued on the pockets of a kitchen apron? I really like the wreath idea. I've seen that done with green paint on muslin and sewn into a small wall hanging.

A pillow case or throw pillow would be very nice also. Love the kitchen apron idea too.

How about cut it out of muslin , Then embrodery inside the saying"We hold our childrens hands for awhile,and there hearts forever" like a stitchery, then frame it in with another fabric,, and frame it and date it
