Reversible tissue box cover

Hello

Does anyone know of a site or how to make a reversible tissue box cover? thank you B.

Hmmm... I don't know a site, but if I were to make one, I'd start with taking measurements of the box style I wanted to cover. Cut the 5 pieces to construct the basic box shape (adding 1/2 seam allowance to all sides of each piece). Do the same thing for the contrasting fabric. Match the right sides together and sew the bottoms together, leaving a small part open for turning. Turn right side out. I suppose you could use a really long button hole with matching threads to create the tissue slit on top.

Or, rather than leaving a small opening in the base perimeter for turning right side out, how about cutting the slit for the tissue opening and turning through that opening? You could use bias tape to seal the edges of the tissue slit.

Actually, now that I've thought about it, this might be really cool to make. Maybe in a faux leather for my trendy brother for Christmas?

I'd do what needle_babe suggested, but use one rectangular piece of fabric for the sides and a separate piece for the top, then line it. Maybe finish the bottom edges with binding.

Cute idea. Don't forget to post pictures when you get it done.

Odessa I found the pattern in an old book with quilted seasonal home decorations. I saw one posted on another site and realized I had made these before! Cut fabric 16hix18wide fold 19 in piece in half and sew down side and bottom. Pull 2 corners of bottom together and stitch together with a small stitch. This makes a flat fold on the bottom when the box is inserted. Fold 16 inch fabric down about 3 inches and sew a small casing about 1/4 inch wide for the drawstring. Make sure the seam is centered on the back and cut a small opening in the front for the drawstring. I use yarn to draw the top together and make a bow to attach to the yarn. They are so easy to make. I usually buy the rectangular boxes of tissues, as well. I like to buy the local stores generic brands, but sometimes I hate the design on the boxes or have to dig through the stock on the shelf to find the few that are acceptable. Since I have severe allergies, I need to buy a lot of them. When the designs have been really objectionable, I have used a product called "Box Sox." They are not wonderful looking, but better than some of the tissue box designs I've seen, and they are cheap. I was able to find some fairly neutral, not objectionable, covers. Here is a link: Box Sox I bought some years ago from the company that makes them, but couldn't find their storefront anywhere---they were much cheaper than on Amazon, since you only paid one shipping charge for several. The other use I've found for them is for the tissue box in the car. I have found that if I cover it with two of these the box stays intact better after being tossed all over the car. Edited to add: I don't keep tissue boxes in my bathrooms, either, since the TP is available there. However, you will find boxes of tissues in just about every other room.

There used to be a pattern floating around here that was a one piece (for the square box style) You sewed two side seams and the hem edge for the top...then used a draw string to gather it around the opening....Worked out real cute. It could be doubled and made reversible if we can find that pattern.
