CL find - what do you think?
Comments (7)I spoke with the poster and she said the DR was hardly used. It's currently in her pet and child free townhouse and since she's moving in w/ her BF, she needs to get rid of it because he already has an antique set. She said she keeps it covered since it doesn't get used. She also emailed me back saying this: My dad purchased it for me in 2001. He purchased at Drexel Heritage in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Also, my dad was a contractor and had the chairs reinforced with wood glue as well as the regular screws/pins/nails. This is not a common practice in Chicago but it extends the life of the chairs. I'm not sure of the manufacturer. The table and chairs are solid cherry wood. I have an appt. to see it tomorrow and I'll check to see if the Mfr is anywhere on the underside of the table or chairs....See MoreHubby thinks I'm nuts, so may you, but I had to re-paint! (pics)
Comments (38)Here's a glimpse of my 10 y/o son's room. It needs help. After seeing your before and after pictures and actually seeing my uploaded picture, I'm strongly considering painting the slanted walls in his room. We recently replaced his carpet with the hardwood, removed popcorn texture, painted his room, and put up that ceiling fan that "he" picked out. I have not got to the accessorizing part yet, so there is not much to see (except red walls and those slanted walls that now really seem to stick out like a sore thumb). Whenever I get to that point, I will post more pictures. Again I love the color of your son's room, and I hope you will post it again after it is decorated. BTW I don't think you're nuts:)...See MoreCL find - What do you think?
Comments (9)Aunt Jen, I LOVE the rattan shown in your link. I definitely like the more mid-century looking stuff and have been hoping for that for a while. But I've been checking CL for what seems like ages and I can't seem to find a set with cushions that isn't $$$. Carrie, I actually did think about painting it but this is furniture that we will be sitting on in (dry) swimsuits and shorts, so I didn't think the painted fabric would feel very nice next to our skin. It never occurred to me to dye cushions. Yours look fabulous! What a terrific idea. I will DEFINITELY keep that in mind for the next great buy. Dying won't work with this stuff because the cushions are attached. BTW, Carrie, your wicker really is beautiful. And sunroom furniture IS shockingly expensive. What is up with that? I have to tell you guys it was pretty funny when I went to see the furniture. The seller just bought this house and had tons of workers there - painters, landscapers, carpenters. As I was staring at the couch he was walking around with the decorator getting her opinion on what needed to be done. I was dying to jump into their conversation. I knew I didn't want the furniture but I stood there for a few minutes just to eavesdrop! From what I could figure out, the decorator was giving him some good advice. I approve - LOL! Comments (31)Hey, thanks again for the input! Oh, and before I forget -- Deborahnj, little Tristan is doing beautifully! He's growing and thriving and is a cute little butterbean of a baby. Thank you for asking! :-) I know it sounds unbelievable that we could get a king mattress up the stairs, but not a headboard. Well, that's because a mattress bends! Not so with a headboard! And no, the little niche that you see just to the right of the bed is not a full size that you could fit a bed within. It's just a little bump-in that houses a small closet: I've actually looked on Craig's List for a pair of twin headboards that we could make work, but haven't found anything yet. I'll keep searching, though -- eventually something is bound to pop up! Thanks again for the wonderfully creative ideas! You've all given me a few more options to chew on. :-)...See More- 14 years ago
