Cabico, Thomasville or KM..Is one any better?
Comments (14)rubyvine, Erikanh went with Crown Point. I did too. If you search for Crown Point on this site you will find that we are all VERY satisfied. I can't say enough about them. When I priced them they were on the lower end (the high end for me was WoodMode, Quality Custom Cabinetry). Only one came in lower than Crown Point. They offered me some discounts because it was a slow time and that helped the price. I am sure they are hurting for business ... I know Erika was offered free milk paint which is usually a 25% upgrade. Working with Crown Point actually helped a lot in reducing the overwhelming stress of the kitchen remodel process. I highly suggest you contact them, particularly since you are local. They are usually working direct so I don't know how that will sit with your KD - not sure he or she will get anything out of this if you go with them....See MoreHello. I am looking for reviews of Cabico cabinets in a kitchen.
Comments (6)What did you decide? Did you learn anything more about Cabico? I am looking into Cabico too... I have heard good things from local friends and their kitchens look lovely but I wonder about long term wear and tear... If you got them would you be willing to share your experience? I am close to making a choice. I did find this article, Maybe it can help you too. https://www.mainlinekitchendesign.com/general/kitchen-cabinet-ratings-2017-reviews-top-selling-cabinet-lines/ Cabico got a B in the ratings. A is great, and D is not. Merrilat and Yorktowne got below a C.. I had Yorktowne in my last house and they were fine. Nothing special. So if Cabico is B. I am would be willing to use them....See MoreMarvin Modern vs Essential windows + doors reviews/pricing?
Comments (11)I sell that window with no extension jambs for about the same amount of money. It's not overpriced. (Essential). I haven't worked with the Modern lineup yet so I cannot comment from experience. Essential windows are better than vinyl. The Fiberglass is stronger, doesn't expand/contract like vinyl, and will last longer than vinyl. Also Marvin has one of, if not the lowest seal failure rates amongst all windows. I sell more Marvin products than any other and I have almost zero seal failures. Many of the vinyl window I've sold have had seal failure issues. The $800 quote is far less than my cost on a unit that size. Unlikely mseamm's unit is as big, or the same brand/series/options. Might be that their unit wasn't tempered....See MorePicking a designer? Cabico cabinet pricing?!
Comments (5)It's funny, I could have written this myself! Like you, I pretty much know exactly what I want, so I didn't see the value in a designer. The reason we ended up going that route anyways was honestly just peace of mind - he will handle everything with the cabinet company and installers, so if an issue arises, I just have one point of contact. One thing that the designer mentioned that really resonated was that if you have crappy installers, you're going to run into issues with even the nicest cabinets. The other issue that my builder brought up is that if you end up using different folks for the purchase and install, if something goes wrong, both parties will sometimes just point the finger at the other, which can sometimes make issues hard to resolve (things like door dings or wonky doors)....See Morejagmuse
