Have your hollyhocks ever had this color combination?
Comments (9)I understand about more than one seed in a pot, which would make additional plants. When the sales person at the garden center and I both did a little scratching at one of the other hollyhock plants the stems were in a cupped shape and looked like they came from one root system. I guess the only way to tell for sure is to get another one and take it apart. I planted my last three last evening and forgot to take a photo. I think Art is correct, and I don't think I have anything unique, but if they are second year plants, could it be possible that the plant last year was polinated by a busy bee that visited several colors of hollyhocks? If I get another pot of the mixed colors I will definitely take a photo, and more than likely remove at least some of the soil to check deeper. I will let you know what I find. Thank you. Comments (5)If you want a white sink, consider fireclay as an option for your prep sink or both. It would pair beautifully with your marble -- or both counters. I think 12x12 strains the usefulness of the prep sink. Mine is about 15x15 and I find that it is small enough to be able to fit some strainers across the top while being large enough top place a large pot or colander inside it. I think different sink finishes are okay with different counters, especially when undermounted, but it seems a bit disjointed to put the white with the dark counter and not put white with the white. I think the look could be a bit patchy....See MoreDo you ever do two cans in a square room?
Comments (1)I dont think 4 cans would be overkill at all. Thats a pretty nice size room. I would lean towards more light than not enough. If you are concerned you could always put each set of lights on a different wall switch or better yet put them on dimmers to control the mood good luck...See MoreWould you ever have two kitchens in a normal-sized house?
Comments (33)We had a partial kitchen in the basement laundry room of my parents' last house in the burbs of Detroit (I lived there from 8th grade until I left for college). The laundry room had a large double sink (laundry room type, not kitchen sink), an old electric stove (probably about 42 inch with 2 ovens), an old sxs frig, and a large pass through/serving counter area that could be used as a prep area as well as staging area. It was very useful when we had large parties (about every other month). Our upstairs kitchen was fairly small and only had room for my mom & I to work in (we had a great system worked out so we didn't run into each other). Some basements in our area (1970s & 80s suburban homes mostly 2 story) have partial kitchens in the basements. Our next door neighbor has a large ranch home so the basement is quite a bit larger than most in our subdivision. The original owner who we were friends with put in quite a nice basement kitchen. It was almost as nice as their upstairs kitchen, just somewhat smaller. They entertained a lot and used both kitchens to the max. I think a second kitchen would be great, especially in the summer to keep the heat out of the main living spaces. Ideal place for canning, too....See Morelarke
