I'm terrible at window treatments for the most part. But how about washable suede? I don't have any pictures of my room in winter mode with my chocolate suede curtains up, but it is quite cozy. I'm sure others will have more original ideas.

I think that shutters like these would be stunning. I think irregardless of what you choose for the windows, keep it simple would be my motto. Washable suede would be excellent or solid silk drapes. Nothing too frilly.

What a gorgeous bed . . . very, very nice! With your bed linens, blanket throw and pillows, it looks like you could be in Santa Fe. Are the pillows from Chimayo? They're wonderful! I like the one wood side table (I've seen many similar to that around here), but the lamp on it looks too short to me. If nothing else, slip a few books under it to raise it up. One in the same soft sage green as in the throw would be perfection. I love the idea of shutters on the window, especially if they're not white, but a stained wood color with simple wrought iron pulls. Stay away from pastel SW colors, as they look too touristy and unrealistic. For the other nightstand, I don't think you need to try and match the dark wood stain of the bed and one nightstand. As was mentioned above, a rustic pine nightstand would work wonderfully there. The white lamp is too generic for a SW home; there are many possibilities you can go with instead. Wrought iron is one possibility and Mission style is another. The sun candle holder is wonderful, but the white-ish frame on the picture could be replaced with a darker wood one or painted a dark color. Please forgive me for saying it but it looks kind of slick and touristy the color it is now. I'd also try and bring in a bit more of the soft green from the woven throw/blanket with some of your accessories. My only other suggestion would be to keep the rest of your accessories simple, on the large side and not cutsey . . . no howling coyotes, kokopelis or pastel pottery, please (shudder!). You have the makings of a stunning, very classy Southwestern bedroom! Please show us final pics whenever you finish, will you?

I think the room looks great! You mentioned bedside tables -- I think the larger dark is fine as is, and the round table would be fine if you were to add a larger top.

I agree with the others -- the room looks distinctive now. Adding sort of kitschy Southwestern items would diminish it.

You could use garden variety shutters from Lowe's and paint them that lovely green in the blanket. Replace the table cover with a green one with a small piece of soft suede leather on top and get aged lampshades. I do think the white lamp sound be either painted or replaced with a paper bag color. Lovely room, very inviting!!! You've done well!!

Very nice. I just looked at your other pics on RMS and I love the large Carol Grigg print above the bed in your guest room. Do you have room for it in your room? She is one of my favorite SW artists.

I would like to see one or two authentic or similar Indian pottery or baskets on display or used as catch alls. I lived on an Indian reservation in Az. when I was little- parents taught school there- and we have a few art pieces. then moved off and grew up in Phoenix. And I never saw any depiction of kokopelli or the howling coyote or the pastels until we moved East and everyone thought that was true southwest. ( I do mix my Zuni earrings with my Mom's Hopi bracelet and Navajo necklace- they go well and no one here knows!)

Is your bed an antique eastlake? I bought one about thirty years ago and it looks similar.

I love the room. Completely agree w/Cooperbailey on adding a couple of baskets. I'd look for vintage Hopi or Navajo baskets. There's a nice Pima/Chemehuevi basket on eBay right now too ...

Oh, and if you have anyplace in the room to hang a small rustic rack, you could display any Native American jewelry that you might have -- squash blossom necklace, turquoise bolo, western belt, etc. (Might make for a good excuse to start a jewelry collection, if you haven't already! ;-))

I think you can use any coiled basket in those colors if you dont want to put much into them. Thats what I did several years ago,I have several coiled baskets that were actually made in Africa but look Indian. All my Indian stuff is in storage in attic until I find place for it.

I do have a nice piece of Native pottery that is on a tall jewerly cabinet. Other than that, that is all. I will look for authentic baskets. Oh, and I do have a Squash Blossom necklace and many esrrings, braclets.!

I will be on the lookout for another nightstand and aother lamp.
