Master Bedroom Update
Hi! Would love advice on what we should do with master bedroom window treatments and area behind TV. Slowly but surely removing ornate window treatments. Any thoughts on what should go here? Remove just the drape or entire thing? Paint behind TV or wallpaper? It's maroon now. Still want to correlate with master bath in colors. Would you advice painting our walls too? Is this gold look very dated? I have added pictures of the beach that think match. If so what color to paint it? Thank you!

Comments (38)Exactly, although I really appreciate your critique of my bedroom space. DH would not allow me to switch chest of drawers. That's his "side" of the room, bed, bench, lol. Y'all don't know what it took to talk him into curtains! Although, he has been pretty good throughout this decorating process. I did previously try to put the basket under the side table, but it is too tall with the pillows and would be a pain to get under to retrieve them. As for the air return, I cannot block it with anything that large and solid. You should have seen the dust on the solid painted screen. The heating and air guys were not thrilled with that, either. One of these days, I'll see the perfect console table to put there, but in the meantime, that's what I feel comfortable with and it's staying. I can't believe y'all have not seen these decorative screens as just that...decorative! Must be a southern thing. Anyhow, all I wanted to do is show you my newly revamped space because it is such a big improvement over what it was. Thank you for the kind words, tryingtodecorate. The color is Decatur Buff in the bedroom, and my fireplace wall is as well. Comments (36)Out of all of them, I like the 1st or 3rd that I posted. IMO, a fully upholstered bed looks more finished than just a headboard. I think the 1st nicely mimics the curves in the nightstands and dresser and feels a bit more traditional, as does the furniture. Do you know how tall the nightstands are? Comments (5)I'm not sure if that is your furniture, but the space itself is pretty up to date. the lamps, bedding and perhaps the pastel could be updated. IF this is not your furniture, then I would say, yes paint the walls before you move in bare in mind most old farmhouses didn't have wall to wall carpet but carpet is also cozy so I think the result here would come mostly from the items you put in the room....See MoreRachel Nye

5 years agoOrdered curtains to try. Do I have to put the two in the middle? What is the rules for that? The spacing is very small and I would hate to block our view at all. The curtains will never be actually used just decoration. Also considering painting accent area behind TV a dark blue (maybe trying a shade darker than Polaris like black pepper or possibly very dark like black bean soup??) and having it trimmed out with rustic wood. While watching TV I can see why they went darker in that corner it creates more of a movie theater feel. Ordered new pulls too. Anyone paint laminate?

5 years agoBetsy a nice neutral color. Not grey more tan. Our house is this color so something that compliments that. Thank you. We are going to be putting our big TV in that space so now thinking just keep same color and mount TV.

5 years agoSunday afternoon update:) Paint is finished. Went with Magnolia Homes Gatherings which has more tan, blues, greens than the purple we saw in Accessible Beige. Husband going to put up new curtain rods and mount TV this afternoon. I'm running to home goods to find accent pieces to go on each side of TV. Would sconces on walls next to TV work? Thanks for advice.
