Need some inspiration re:apple wine jelly
Comments (3)I had made apple, cranberry, and blueberry wines years ago, and would never turn them into jelly. They were just too good and colorful when poured out of a bottle and served. The blueberry wine was a deep purple color, not usually something you see as a wine. If the wine didn't taste good, then I suppose you could use it as a basis for a jelly, if you add other fruits, flavorings, or juices. Just keep in mind that most of the alcohol will boil out....See MoreSmelly roots?
Comments (3)Wash and bleach the container thoroughly. Place the plant (roots) in a bowl of water that has a small amount of bleach mixed with plenty of water. Rinse. Cut off any obviously dead and mushy roots. You can also put some hydrogen peroxide in the plant water when you refill it. If your container holds about a cup of water, use a tsp. or so of the peroxide. The water should be changed regularly to avoid the smelly, anaerobic conditions....See MoreSmelly Jelly Question
Comments (2)Sorry, I can't really help, but you could try keeping them in a container which may not absorb the scent, like glass, plastic seems to eat up some of the scent for soap. And, soap will lose some of the scent after time, so maybe soap is a different animal in this sense?...See MoreSmelly Used Armoire HELP!
Comments (21)I'm wondering if the previous owner used lemon oil -- I use that occasionally on my antique wood furniture and it does a nice job of conditioning old dried out wood but it does smell very strong and perfumey. In that case, I bet wiping it down with a good strong degreaser like Lestoil or even goof off would remove the buildup (test first though to make sure it doesn't harm the finish and do it outside in a well ventilated area because goof off smells!) If worse came to worse, I'd imagine you could seal the whole thing inside and out with some kind of poly or shellac -- you'd have to test it out to see what sticks. But I would make that a last ditch solution - time is going to be your best friend here. Move it to the garage, give it a good cleaning, and let it air out for a few weeks (maybe take it outside in the sun on nice days)....See More- 22 years ago
