Bookmarks and Scrapbook are different. I can back up Bookmarks easily following the path I gave in my first post. There is a file for Bookmarks inside the next stop after Profiles, which is v20fqq3t.default. I forgot to mention that last one. There is also a folder for Scrapbook inside v20fqq3t.default, but that folder contains a number of files, including "Backup" and several RDF files that appear to be individual backups but are just a meaningless list of figures when I click them, as well as a folder for "Data." "Backup" itself is also full of lines like the following: RDF:Description RDF:about="urn:scrapbook:item20060912103442" NS8:id="20060912103442" NS8:type="" NS8:title="Scappy String Quilt Instructions" NS8:chars="UTF-8" NS8:comment="" NS8:icon="" NS8:source="http://home.pmt.org/~awalter/string.html"/ So I don't see how saving Backup would give me something to use in the event of a crash. Groan. Come to think of it, Roxio appears to insist on individual files rather than folders when I want to burn a disk, so maybe I'll have to export everything to the desktop and then laboriously transfer it to Roxio as a "project" and burn that. What gets me is that previously--maybe a long time ago--there was just one folder that I could transfer to a zip disk and from it open up FF again with all the scrapbook entries. Somewhere along the line that changed. I do find Scrapbook very useful because any Web page saved there is always there, along with its clickable links, even if the original page has been taken down.

My brother is the "keeper of the flags" in my family. He has our dad's, both grandfathers and one that was presented to him at the end of his last deployment. He has all of them in the triangle shadow boxes on two of picture ledges in his home office. Unless she wants to hang the flag on a wall, which is not terribly subtle, I'd suggest keeping the flag in a shadow box to protect it. Perhaps put in on a shelf with a picture of her grandfather and two or three things that belonged to him, or with a shadow box of his medals, if she has those. I could see the flag, in a case, on a shelf in a bookcase, with a few books on American history, a framed photo of her grandfather, and a few other objects that either remind her of her grandfather or that are Americana--something that commemorates the state he lived in, an American eagle, a figure of Uncle Sam, some small state flags, an old map. Or a grouping of old family photos, grandmother's wedding handkerchief, her baby shoes, and the clay ashtray she made for her parents in kindergarten. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you want to make the flag more subtle, then you need to surround it with more stuff, so that the flag becomes one part of an overall display, instead of standing out on its own as the only bit of patriotic or family-related decor in the room, if that makes any sense.

You will really enjoy putting this together. I did one for a 60th anniversary (5 years ago!), before scrapbooking was so big and before there were a lot of products available. I covered a binder with fabric and put the wedding picture on the front in a fabric-covered frame with silk wedding flower trim. Like the response from Mar, we asked all the grandkids and great-grands to write about their favorite memories of visiting the grandparents' farm in Wisconsin (they were all city kids), and the brothers and sisters also contributed by writing about some of their favorite memories. We had lots and lots of pictures representing the 60 years they shared. I would suggest carrying out the color scheme of their wedding (although at that time there may not have been one), or the flowers that were used. Have the wedding attendants relate anything amusing that happened the day of the wedding. If there are any surviving momentos, such as a handkerchief, fabric from a dress, napkin, you might find a product available for preserving and incorporating that into the book. Enjoy!

WOW! Great question!! Up until about a year ago I went to Crops quite regularly. The things that I really liked were: ~the expensive items were there for us to use, so that we didn't have to put out the money for something that we would use infrequently ~at each class the hostess would teach a new skill..stencilling, embossing, etc or she would hand out a instruction/idea sheet for layouts ~she had all the other supplies right there for us to buy as we worked, so if we needed just one sticker or a die cut etc, they were right there to purchase ~she charges $15 for a 6 hour crop (6-midnite) or 12 if paid three days in advance ~because of the hours, no one brings children..which is kinda nice, as we look at it as a moms time out. ~we always get a break half way thru for goodies and coffee The things that I would be looking for would be: PLENTY of room to work..sometimes her crops get a bit crowded and that can be frustrating ~music that keeps you moving, not fighting off sleep!! ~the hostess that I go to has TONS of supplies for us to use, and there is no extra charge for using these things..she has punches, stamps, stencils, large paper cutters, crimpers, ( I can't even think of all that she has there!!) Its just really convenient to know that we don't have to purchase all these things, as she will have them there.
