Thank you for straightening me out, Sherry. I thought it was just thistle. Hollyhocks are indeed lovely garden plants. And Pearly everlasting is a nice little plant for the fall. I want to put in more fall bloomers next year-asters, in particular, but also goldenrod. The ornamental grasses also look great at that time of year. I put in switchgrass this year, and I am quite happy with it. Maybe I will put in some Lovegrass-I saw it at the National Arboretum recently and I thought it was very pretty. We have to provide something for our little skipper friends!

My husband died on December 19, 2008. His funeral was the 23rd - This is my fourth Christmas without him. Any real joy in the holidays died with him - it will always been the anniversary of the saddest week of my life. Since then, I've also become estranged from one of my daughters, due to her mental illness and alcoholism. Today was quiet - son and I shared a turkey dinner I cooked. No tree, no presents, no decorations - one grandson called briefly, said he was "making the rounds" and would be over soon - never showed up. I told son if he had not been with me today, I would have been totally alone all day - might as well have just been any old day. Next year I'm seriously considering just taking a cruise over the holidays - never been on one, so maybe it's time to see what that's like. The secret is to not have very high expectations of the day.

Thanks Debra.I will try that.I have been to a lot of places looking for help all day, since noon and havegot no where. It has me pulzzled as whats the problem.I have never had a memorycard fill up so fast before either.I have always used a 2gb card, but the lady at wal mart put a 8MG in the camera. said they don't carry the 2 or the 4MG no moreshe had put a 8mg in it when I bought it, so figured it be ok.I always bought a new card each year, & each years blooms be together on one. card.Looks like this card will not be used if I cant find out whats wrong.I was leary about getting a Nikon camera anyway,as my thers were cannon and Kodak. never a problem with them. I will go to this site andsee what I find out anyway, Thank you.I had some beauties blooming this morning, but couldn't take pictures. jean

I'd go check them out. A very sweet woman, my favorite salesperson who works in the nursery/garden section says they've never gotten roses in the fall. She checked the delivery form for Tuesday, the day they get their shipment, and said more roses are due to be delivered.
