I would suggest that everyone try to find a scrapbooking group in your area. I'm a visual person, and it helps me to see what everyone else is doing. It's nice to see that you aren't the only one out there with the hobby and provides some motivation for getting stuff done. We have a local store that offers a crop night each week and various classes throughout the year. Last night was my second time there. If you need ides or get stuck on something, you always have someone to ask for advice. The people who run the crop are helpful also. They often have ideas on things like cleaning up messes on a page, useful coverups, and they know the best places to look for ideas. In addition to this crop night, I'm starting to get together with friends to scrapbook also. It's nice to be able to set aside time to scrapbook without the kids and have a little adult time.

We are not yet thinking to go into scrapbooking business now, but I have 2 friends who try to let to know scrapbooking in our area. They teach and they have many people interested (about 50 ) and it is growing up every day. It is a first step... they had papers on local news and one of them will have a broadcast program on a local radio by the end of march. we 'll had a demonstration day in a craft shop in april, I made my site, but it is still local. It is why we try to find french people in other part of France. One of my friend will organise scrapbooking week-end for people coming outside from Lyon very soon, but we need to have a real scrapbookers community before to do a real bussiness. but maybe things can go very fast. For my own, I keep doing my computer engineer job and scrapbooking at nigth! Thank you for your advice :-)

I think you have a marvelous idea. I am trying to "retro-write" my dear Grandma's stories. I'm doing a scrapbook that includes all the photos she had in her house when she died. They go back to the very early 1900s. I'm including "history stories" I remember her telling about her parents and grandparents. I've asked aunts and cousins to write their "stories" too. I want to make a big "Our Family History" book. I've asked for everything they are comfortable with sharing. The good, the bad, the happy, the sad, and in some cases the down-right ugly. I hope to make it a complete picture of our family.

Not sure what look you're going for but you could punch holes and tie different colored ribbons through. Or maybe use small O rings of some sort.
