Where to get bathroom mirror with traditional frame?
Comments (4)Or find/make a frame that you like and get a mirror cut for it. For traditional style have them bevel the edge of the mirror. It's more expensive this way than using an off-the-shelf beveled mirror, but you can have a more interesting frame that way. I've made some craftsman style mirrors in cherry with through tenons and ebony pins that came out really well. It's nice not to be restricted to stock sizes....See MoreWhich bathroom mirror to buy?
Comments (5)I do have to say that I've seen the Kirkland mirror, (or something just like it), on display at The Tile Shop, and it's just gorgeous. I uderstand if you think it's too ornate for the vanity, but it doesn't bring in any extra elements (like the mother of pearl). It's a great looking mirror....See MoreBetter to cut down bathroom mirror or buy new ones?
Comments (8)We had the same size mirror in both our bathrooms. We (DH & I) remodeled the guest bath ourselves, and were terrified of dealing with the mirror! We got it off the wall in one piece and called several recycling and glass companies trying to get rid of it, and no one would deal with that large a piece of glass. So we bought a glass scoring tool with the intention of cutting it into smaller pieces for recycling. We were totally unable to score or cut the glass! We ended up putting it between layers of plastic drop cloths and hitting it with hammers to break it, and even then it was extremely hard to break. We asked our GC to do the same thing you are proposing in the master bath. They successfully removed the mirror and his glass and cabinet guys magically made it turn into two beautifully framed mirrors. I guess my point is that you may need professional, industrial-grade tools to cut the mirror. And if you decide to get rid of it I hope you have better luck finding someone who will haul it away. Comments (7)Instead of one long mirror we opted for two IKEA mirrors. If the counter had been big enough to fit 3, we would have done that. The arched top of the mirrors matched our cabinets. In the other bathroom we bought a plastic mirror from Home Depot for $20. I figured it would warp or something, but it has been perfect. It is entirely plastic and appears to be all one piece including the frame. Light as a feather. I'm an optics nut when it comes to mirrors, so the HD mirror had to pass my inspection in the store. If a mirror has any fun house effects like wobbly, ripples, or distortion at extended distances, I don't look at it. This HD mirror looked perfect even when reflecting the walls of the store 200 feet away. It is a big mirror but not nearly as big as you're looking for....See More- 10 years ago
