Introduce yourself

Hey is been a while since we did this and many of the people have changed so how about introducing ourselves again.
My name is Penny, and I am from TN, I had two children, a boy and a girl, but my 20 year old son Adam, died 4/5/99 in a car wreck, where a drugged motorist ran a stop sign. I destroyed most of my family, and started my addiction with scrapbook making. My daughter Sequita (Indian name) is 23 and works for an insurance co. I have a live-in boyfriend of 7 years, and currently work on a printing press. So tell us about yourself.

I'm Jill. 40, single, emergency room nurse. Working as a traveling nurse for 11 years and recently moved back to Ohio after being in southern California for almost 15 years. My 2 sisters got me started and now with all my neices and nephews I'm beside myself trying to keep current and get my old photos out of the old yellowing albums. I've painted for almost 10 years...haven't had the time since I started scrappin'. Prefer acrylics and watercolors.

Gardngrl: What a great post! Your very good at expressing yourself. My wife and I bought a country home 2years ago. It just kills me to leave the big city and step back into time. Yes the wave thing, kills me. We have great neighbors, but your right bad neighbors can make you move. I am in a very expensive area and when meeting the locals I don't like to tell them exactly where my house is, because then they say oh your in one of those mansions. It's not a mansion but many local people live in trailers. So when you go some where your better off being vague. But they like local residents better than tourists. Then they ask, where you live. You might as well tell them, because they want every detail and the color of the house. The also know the names of everyone and your house is named after the person you bought it from. I love them all but they follow the beat of a different drum. Had my farmer friend grade my driveway, I paid him. He did a nice job so I asked him if he wanted a 25" color TV I had. He looked me in the eye and said what would I do with it. My gravel driveway needed repair and put 70 yards of gravel in it. Can be very expensive to maintain. Especially if not done properly like mine was. To drill a well by me cost $42,000.00, so you better check out what a well cost and septic, electric run to the house etc. You could drop a fast $75,000 real fast. The locals will help you anytime you need it. Just mention you have a problem and you get offers, use of tools, wanna borrow the dozer etc. In my opinion big city people and city life you can keep it. We dress down and accept everyone for what they are and make no judgements. It really was a wake up call for me to see what is really important in life. My town is about 160 people, and yes they all know everything about everyone. They like to know, where your from, what you do. But they do it in a friendly way, like breaking the ice and some small talk. What I like if some one works on your house, they would rather take trade than cash. Great system if you have a skill or service to trade. Very handy people, can just about fix or build anything you need. I would also recommend that you get as much land as you can afford. The last thing you want is to have a neighbor close by whey you move to gods country to get some room. I just purchased the land west of my property and I am in negotiations with the owner of the land east of me. Just want to make sure I am secluded. Neighbor down the road has a beautiful log cabin home and someone bought the land next to him and put up a house that looks like a garage, with plastic siding and on the lot line. The guys nice and a builder from the same city Iam in but when his neighbor looks out the window he sees white plastic siding. I cannot see any homes around my house and I am going to insure I won't either. When I first bought the house I wasn't sure how much we would use it, or would we get tired of it. Was worried that maybe this was a very expensive mistake. But we love it and I am so glad I bought it.

Hi guys- I have lurked for a long time, but only started posting about 6 months ago. I love to decorate, and have been blessed to work at home for Southern Living at HOME for 7 years, hence the moniker. Fantastic hubby of 10 years and I live in the middle of Missouri wine country, with our 4 small children and have already built one house, we are getting ready to build again on our 36 acres but have changed on our mind on an exterior(farm house? Log cabin? Mountain cottage?) so many times the locals think we're(ok, I'm) nuts! I have seriously sent 3 different plans out to bid. I still can't make up my mind. I love getting (and stealing!) ideas from you creative girls! We're into college football, great wine and steak, and head to the beach in Southeast Georgia/North Florida a few times a year to get our fix. It is my favorite place in the world, other than home. We also have 2 6 month old Great Pyrnees pups that are now as big as my 7 year old Chocolate Lab!!!

Sharon- Jan's was on the Golden Mile and yes she did have cancer, but she is doing well. That Golden Mile really got built up since we moved here. After Jan's closed my sister opened up a salon Studio One that was there for nine years, right across from the old Strouds. I lived in Lopez, which is only seven miles from Dushore. My Mom still lives in Lopez which is where we spent thanksgiving. I'm sure I went to school with OConnors, no one that I graduated with. The one Reardon that I know of, was a older lady named Dorothy, who was killed a few years back crossing the road Christmas Eve to go to church in Mildred and a car hit her right in front of the church. So sad. Doreen

Hi, I'm Lynn from Lemon Grove (San Diego area) Califronia. I am a Nutrition Specialist for a school district. I am married and have 2 sons, 14 and 11. I like to do all kinds of crafts and swore I would not get into scrapbooking, but was not able to keep away. I have lots of supplies and ideas and tons and tons of pictures, but have not acutally started scrapbooking. I have decided to do an ABC book first because I think it would be easier to include lots of different pictures and not have to worry so much about putting all those pictures in chonological order. I read this forum all the time, but don't contribute much since I haven't really gotten into it. Love all the ideas - you all are so creative. My biggest frustration is not having the time or space. I want an area where I can put things out and leave them but only have the kitchen table at this point. Glad to meet you all!

Just turned 45, married for 6 years and have a three-(soon-to-be 4) year old son. Live in the D.C. area and work for a non-profit consumer affairs organization (such a change from the stressful private law firm I used to work for!). As an adolecent/teen, I used to spend hours in my room (very lonely angst-filled years for me) putting together little journals with clipped sayings/poems from newspapers, etc and trying to write poetry/prose. When I was pregnant with my son, the urge returned and I collected and kept EVERTYING to put in a scrapbook...even tried to write a poem for my evolving son. 4 years later and knee-deep in scrapbook paraphernalia I have finally STARTED! and love it. Made starter books for grandparents. This is a great site and thanks to all for the helpful advice, ideas, etc.

p.s. Penny: so very sorry to hear about your son. My (our) lives changed after our son was born and we will never be the same...smile

I love this site!

Hi, it's nice to be able to "meet" everyone. I'm a 27 year old married, mother of a 4 and a 6 year old--both boys. (That sorta sounds like an opening for a dating ad) I've been scrapping for about 4 years but only in the last 2 years have I gotten serious. I've recently got the other ladies at work (I work as a surgical technologist) addicted to scrapping also. My family lives in a small town in PA called Roaring Spring. My husband is very supported of my addiction, not ever saying much when I come home with new toys. Well once again it was nice to meet you all.
    Happy Scrapping, Tammy

I am fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home Mom, however that still doesn't leave enough time for scrappin' (ha ha)... I have a small scrapbook business, I DJ for weddings etc on the weekend, and work from home for the company I used to work for. Just as busy as you all. Thanks Penny for having everyone introduce themselves; it's nice to know a little about who we're talking too!!

Hi, everyone! I'm Jane, from Tamworth in Australia. I've been hanging around this great site from day #1 but I don't post often. I'm a teacher, married with two great daughters (10 and 13). I love scrapbooking but don't do my pages as often as I'd like. My first completed book was a sentiments-size 50th Wedding Anniversary for my aunt. My uncle takes it everywhere with him - recently, to a funeral!! I attend CM classes when I can and love the fact that this "addiction" is growing in Australia. Keep up the great work, everyone!

    Hello,
I am Joelle, 38 and I live in Lyon, France. I am a computer Engineer, mother of 3 boys, 10, 7, 4. I became scrapbooking addicted one year ago, while we lived in South Carolina for my husband company.
Back to France, I met a wonderful girl, scrapbooking addicted too, and with the help of another friend, we try to introduce scrapbooking in France. My friends teach SB in their neighbourhood and have sent articles to magazines.
Some newspapers have already talked about SB, and next wednesday, there will be an article in a national french craft magazine called Creamania!
For my own, and because it is my job, I created a web site about SB in French, and try to get in touch with addicted or new introduced people.
I have 5 SB done , one on the way and many in project.
We try to organize ourselves to find supplies, because it is the main problem here, and sometimes have opportunities to place an order by the net, or to have supplies brought back by one of our acquaintance coming back from US!
So I read this forum with a great pleasure, because it allows me to get in touch with addicted people, and it reminds me my life there, and I contribute sometimes!
    friendly
    Joelle

Hi! My name is Jan. I live in Springfield, Illinois. I am married and have 1 DD who is going to be 3 in less than 2 weeks. She is my scrapbooking inspiration. I started about a year ago and have only completed one album but I have helped my friend complete 2 and my mom start one. What is wrong with this picture? :) I work part-time at a local hospital in patient financial services. I pre-register and verify insurance benefits so patients have an idea of what they will be responsible for. I have 2 cats who are very spoiled. Besides scrapbooking, I enjoy baking, cookbooks, cross-stitch and genealogy. My Dh and I are going to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a trip to Disney World in Oct. I used to lurk on the Kitchen Table forum but now I am hooked here. Thanks to everyone for all your good ideas and help. I am happy to "meet" you all!

Hi! My name is Sherry. I am 40 and live in PA. with my husband and 3 children: A 17 yr. old daughter, & two sons, age 13 & 6. I love scrapbooking and have been known for following my family around with my camera, never wanting to miss out on a kodak moment! I started scrapbooking a year or so ago when I made a scrapbook for my grandmother. It covered over 100 years, starting with her mother as a child, there is alot of history in it! She enjoyed reminiscing with it and sharing her stories with us. She has died since then, but we have this scrapbook full of memories which is priceless to us. I now have 3 more in the works for each of my children. I love hearing about new ideas and just love this site. It's nice to have people to share with! P.S. Penny, I am sorry to hear about your son. Hi! My name is Patti and I live in southern NH, just over the Mass. border. I'm a stay at home mom to my 2 1/2 year old daughter. I've been married for almost 6 years, but we've been together for almost 11. He was alittle slow on the whole proposal thing. :)

I got involved in scrapbooking a little over a year ago when a friend of mine became a CMC and asked me to go to her house for a "practice" class so she'd be more comfortable at her first official one. I had never even heard of CM before that and went in with the attitude of "I'm just doing her a favor. I will NOT get hooked on this". Well, I'm hooked. I've been doing it faithfully ever since. I'm just about done my 2nd album for my daughter, which makes me caught up to date on her pictures!! I also did 1 sentiments album for my mom - I stole all of her wedding snapshots (not the photographers copies - just the ones that guests took) and put them in a book for her. She proudly displays it in her living room. :)

I've been coming to this site for quite a while now and I love all the great ideas everyone here provides. It's my first stop every day. :)

They are getting their dairy beef calves ready for the fair - I know I'll be taking lots of COW and FAIR pictures! Nice to meet you all! Patty

Hi, I'm Chris, I live in Kentucky and just turned 40 on Sunday (yuck) and I've been married 18 years, I have a fourteen year old boy, and thirteen year old girl, two wonderful dogs, and a guinea pig. I make my living doing Alzheimers research, and I love the patients, but my real love is scrapbooking! Does anyone own the Crop in Style LS, or XXL bag on wheels? If so, what do you think? My biggest problem is lack of space, and keeping organized-and of course finding the time to scrap. It's funny, I DO find the time to scrap...but I can't (won't) seem to find the time to exercise! My pastimes are hiking, rapelling, climbing, Girl Scouts, Humane Society, etc. Nice to meet y'all.

Hi I am Teresa, 36 from MD, separated 2 girls 7, Barbara and 12, Ashley. I have been planning my scrapbook for 2 years (was great therapy during the initial shock of separation) and now finally putting it all together. I sure hope the girls don't tire of me taking pictures of everything we do. I never did the picture thing when they were smaller, just started with the separation, you know the 1st christmas alone, any road trips, everything we do, this Friday we are "doing" Barbi's first carnival, so I can wait. Anyone living in the MD DC VA area hearing of a rodeo in town on the weekend would you be so kind as to let me know. Barbi's dad promised and promised that they would go to the one here last weekend, but his wonderful girlfriend said no (a whole 'nother story) so needless to say she was heartbroken. Ok I have rambled enough, sorry, but it makes me a stronger person to "see" what a jerk he is... Anyway thanks for listening.

Hi, my name is Tracy and I live in Tracy, CA (okay, I've heard it already...I know what your thinking..."Tracy from Tracy" should be easy to remember). I love to do scrapbooking ! I'm the mother of 2 kids (5 yrs and 2 yrs old) and I'm expecting my third child the end of September. I'm able to be a stay-at-home mother, which I feel very grateful each and every day. My wonderful husband supports me on my addiction to scrapbooking, even helping me with layouts that I'm having trouble putting together.

I look forward to getting to know most of you via this forum or even thru a swap.

    Hi folks!

Patti from NH told me all about this board several months ago, but it took me awhile to really want to get back into my scrapping. We were visiting yesterday and something just zinged while we were talking about scrapbooking, so here I am. :)

My name is Annie and I'm a SAHM to my 2 1/2 year old son, Cortland, and we have another one on the way at Thanksgiving-time -- just the addition we need for our Christmas baby. :) I live just across the border from Patti in No. Massachusetts and got into the scrapping the same way she did, but I'm certainly much slower. Currently I'm working on my son's book and have a long way to go - I'm still in the first 6 weeks! I have a lofty goal, though, and that's to get all caught up on his stuff before the baby arrives - we'll see if it happens!

Hope you don't mind another newcomer - I look forward to reading all of the posts here!

    Annie
