    Hi,
I just got off the phone with DIL yappin away... They wanted me to do the blessing earlier for their dinner down in Florida.. so they put me of speaker phone... not sure why they wanted me to do it, but I did it for them and was honored to do so..

I am an old old lady that lives up in the hills and hollers of Tennessee with my older than dirt hubby... He just turned 80 this month.. lol We have 4 kitties and a pooch or the pinscher kind.. sort of.. she is a mix of pinscher and whatever else was in the neighborhood I guess..
I am a Born Again Southern Baptist and the Lord is the most important thing in my life, followed by family, friends and furkids... So much of my day is spent in service to the Lord..

I love to grow things and veggie gardening fills our larder each year.. plus I gots to have my flowers too.... lots of iris, daylilies, lilacs and whatever else I can plant.. This year I am expanding and planting a whole raft of Brugmansias... I have over 70 rooted cuttings of various colors and types.. so we shall see what happens.. if I don't kill em first.. lol

    That's about it for now..

Hello, I am new to this forum. Been lurking for a while. I normally hang out at the gardening forums, but decided to finally start quilting since my years of stashing fabric has about ran me out of my house! I have always loved to just look at different colors of fabric together and have said to myself, "one day I will start quilting." When I was a child, I used to help my great grandmother quilt, so I am not totally new to the craft, just belately new. :) I am working on a strip quilt for a friend's new baby and a quilt for my son who is majoring in Aerospace at MTSU. I plan to have each block contain a different airplane and hope to have it completed for his graduation. I love the tips and tricks contained here and the little 'classes' that you guys have posted. Keep them coming! Jackie from SE TN

First we have to figure out which door. I think I don't like Pal's for this exercise because they have a less pronounced grain than most of the golden oak I've seen. I'm thinking along the lines of LWO's 2, 5, 7, 8, 10 or 11, or the one I posted. The grain is too fine on Pal's, the color isn't yellow/orange enough on LWO's 1, 3, 4, 6, 9 and 13. Twelve is so ratty it's impossible to believe anyone would keep them (maybe they could be painted). Speaking of which, is the rule going to be no painting? I think it should be. What about staining? I've been thinking of the exercise as how to work with the color as-is. What's the consensus?

Welcome to both of you southern ladies. I moved from Tennessee to Mississippi 12 years ago. If I had lived in the beautiful eastern part of the state I may have stayed, but it was too from from the factory where I worked to move there. I'm at the top of Mississippi now. It's nice to meet some neighbors.

Not sure if my name looked new, I mostly lurk, but I do pop in every now and then. I've been a member of the KT for seven years now. And I am here every day!

I'm 44, married with three kids (a son 16, and two daugthers almost 13 and almost 11) and two pets, a cocker spaniel and a calico cat. I live in Northern Pa not too far from the NY border.

I am Elspeth (Beth). I live in Western Australia and found my way here originally from the Grieving Forum and also Quilting. I am 56, soon to be divorced and have 2 sons (one of them is now in Heaven and my heart) and the other lives in the same little country town. I have 3 grandsons and one grand-daughter who keep me very busy. The three that live here are 3 1/2, 22mth and 10mths and my almost 11yr old grandson lives with his Mum about 3hrs away. I love patchwork and travelling. We are having a very late start to summer here but it will soon be heating up for our usual very hot Christmas. We are seeing a little bit of blue sky today and even though I do not like the heat I am looking forward to being warmer. Beth

I'm Deb, just turned 50 year old "Domestic Goddess". LOL

I'm a native of Panama City Florida, born and raised in the same house. I live about 15 minutes from the house Mama still lives in.

I have a wonderful husband, David, we have been married 25 years and together for 30. He is the kindest man I have ever known...except for my Daddy. We have a 22 year old daughter, Jessica, who just moved to Phoenix Arizona to pursue her Ph.d in Chemistry. Still can't believe she moved 3 days drive away!

We have only one old man kitty cat left to serve. Maxwell is 17 and the king of the house. A very spoiled fellow but we just love him to pieces. Oh, our aquarium has one celestial goldfish...Albert, 2 cory cats and one ugly spiney sucker fish named Dory. Jessica is the reason for the aquarium, we inherited all her stuff that wouldn't fit into her car when she left for Arizona.

I love to cook, especially bread making. Mama taught me to crochet when I was 5 years old. Amazing that I have crocheted for 45 years!!! I do the thread crochet and love making doilies, tablecloths and bedspreads. The pineapple design is my favorite. Mama also taught me to quilt...the lap quilting which I can take where ever I go.

Sorry!!! Didn't mean to write a book!

    Deb :o)))

Hi everybody! I'm Barbara and I live in St. John's, Newfoundland. I'm a retired junior high teacher, married, no kids except for my 2 year old Golden Retriever, Henry. I'm an avid reader, (in 3 book clubs), a quilter, and a gardener. I sing alto in the St. John's Choir and volunteer with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. I enjoy cooking and baking and have a great interest in geneology and family history.

I've been lurking at the KT for quite a while now and thoroughly enjoy reading the threads each day.

Hi All. Returnee here. Found my way from the remodeling forum in '99 when we were redoing the kitchen. Back then I posted as cindy-il. I left when it went pay to play and wandered to other places. Life has happened over the past few years and I was pretty scarce, so when I resurfaced, I stopped by here. Still have one husband and one son. The son moved closer to home the beginning of the year so we see him more often which makes me very happy. Good to see familiar faces here and some new ones!

OMG Doreen! Maybe I know you!! If you live in Bradford Co-you must be from the Towanda area or Camptown/Stevensville area?
How long have you lived there? I lived 90% of my life in Laceyville, Meshoppen & Tunkhannock & went to school in Wyalusing.
Wouldn't this be a coincidence if we know of each other?
I moved to FL in 1997.

Hi everyone! My name is Duane and I found KT through other GW forums. I am mostly at Cooking, but pop in to grieving and pets occasionally. I found GW through the tomatoes forum but don't spend much time there anymore. Moved on to another site after too much bickering. Can you imagine? Over tomatoes!?

Anyway, I am 49 years old, married for 18 years. No human kids, just a yellow lab named Duke who just turned 12 and 2 cats, Oswald and Sebastian. I own a Fetch! Pet Care franchise and my wife works at American Express. I am a farmer stuck in the suburbs! I would love to have a small acreage to grow more veggies, particularly heirloom tomatoes which is my hobby. I love to read and play with all the dogs that visit at my home as well as playing in my small greenhouse. My mom passed 2.5 years ago and it still hurts something terrible. I guess my missing her will never go away. I try to spend as much time with my dad as possible and we watch a lot of t.v. and movies on his big screen t.v. which he bought after my mom passed. She wouldn't let him buy one when she was alive LOL!

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and plan to get to know everyone better.

    No brownies....I'm sorry!

    Sharon-

I live in Towanda, and have for the past 17 years, I went to highschool and graduated from Sullivan County, and lived there until I married 17 years ago. I was born and raised in NJ. Wow it's a small world! I don't know anyone from the Wyalusing, Lacyville, Tunkhannock area.
Back when I first moved here, I worked at Jan's Beauty Shoppe in Wysox.

I've been meaning to introduce myself....

I was very active in Appliances, Kitchens, Cooking and other forums, but I've been offline for Gardenweb for a year. and lost my password, etc, so this is a new name.

I live on the beautiful central coast of California, between Monterey and Santa Cruz, near Moss Landing. We have a couple of Golden retrievers. I work with a local seniors' resource center, previously as staff, but since there have been budget cuts, now as a volunteer.

I've been lurking for ages, so I guess I know many of you in many ways!

Welcome to the KT from Windsor, Ontario Canada. We always like to see new faces around the table and have the fur kids under it to warm our feet.

Doreen...Thanks for responding to my questions. I know right where Jan's was-on the 'Golden Mile', right? She's a real go-getter and didn't she have a battle w/cancer? Hmmm-Dushore..does the last name of O'Connor ring a bell or Reardon?
I did alot of weddings in Towanda-cakes,wedding planner, hostessing, etc. Last name was Tewksbury at the time. Owned the Windmill Inn in Laceyville in the 70's. In the 90's-I worked for the Towanda Daily's 'rival' paper-The Rocket-Courier. My only daughter (now 45), was born in Towanda Memorial. Small world!

Welcome all...I hope you all won't be shy...Jump right in and participate.

    Sharon-

Jan's was on the Golden Mile and yes she did have cancer, but she is doing well. That Golden Mile really got built up since we moved here. After Jan's closed my sister opened up a salon Studio One that was there for nine years, right across from the old Strouds.

I lived in Lopez, which is only seven miles from Dushore. My Mom still lives in Lopez which is where we spent thanksgiving. I'm sure I went to school with OConnors, no one that I graduated with. The one Reardon that I know of, was a older lady named Dorothy, who was killed a few years back crossing the road Christmas Eve to go to church in Mildred and a car hit her right in front of the church. So sad.

Hi Linda_in_Iowa - do you recall any past faces? I was hoping to be able to do a member search, but that doesn't seem to be an option. People I'm thinking of are 'Ausailia' in Canada (may have spelled the name wrong - only have memory to go by!) 'Barb' in OH and 'Cathy' in SC...also a 'Cathy' in South Africa. Oh, heck - not very helpful, is it? Ah well...

Thank you for the invite! I posted on here already and don't see my post so I'll try one more time. I've been on GW for years, started out on flower sites and discovered KT about 3 months ago and don't miss a day lurking. I'm 63 and live with by best friend of 22 years, Dave. We live in Eastern Washington state. We have one very spoiled 14 year old cat called Red. I'm an avid reader and have 2 sometimes 3 books going at once. I have 3 children, 11 grandkids and 6 great grandkids. I love this forum and I'm bringing brownies!

    Doreen,
I have spent many a day & night in Lopez. Dorothy Reardon was like my 'other mother'! I was close to her whole family. In fact her son Kenny, was my best male friend and was the best man at my wedding. It was the saddest day in my life when he was hit head on & killed-took me years to get over it. Just after I moved down here-is when Dorothy was killed & Carol called me to tell me the devastating news. Beautiful family. Hey! I was in Mildred in Sept for the clambake across from the church..did you go?
I hate to communicate w/you via this post-but I tried to email you from 'your page' but no email was available. How about emailing me?

    Welcome all.
I've been hanging around here for about a year and a half now. I found my way to the KT from the gardening forums. I have a degree in horticulture and have worked in that field all my life. I was raised in Minnesota and still live here, but, I spent 16 years in Southwestern New Mexico working in grounds maintenance. I'm married to Bigbaby who posts here occasionaly. We have 5 kids that range in age from 27 to 15.
