Help me find a sink, please

I am looking for a sink that is like a farmhouse sink, in that it covers the counter top area fully with no counter running in front or in back of it. But, unlike a farmhouse, it does not have the large apron that requires a specialized cabinet or cutout.

Ikea sells one that has an angled scrubbing board built in but the interior space of that one is not large enough. Unfortunately, they don't feature it on their website so I can't post a picture of what I am taking about.

I'm hoping to find a single bowl for our 30" sinkbase cabinet in the laundry room. If I have no luck, I will buy the Ikea one, but really would like a larger bowl.

Any ideas? Anyone seen a sink like I am describing (or have any idea of what I am trying to describe?)? : )

Here's a little sketch I did of the idea. Everything in gray is part of the sink. Excuse the paltry attempt at depicting a faucet! We will be using the Ikea industrial gooseneck sprayer.

Anyone seen anything like this?

I settled on the Orca, after so many raves here, and I'm very happy with it - two years in. I love the bottom grid; it keeps everything cleaner (except the grid, which does need scrubbing from time to time) and it fixed the height problem for me, by elevating the "bottom" an inch.. I haven't found myself using the shelf option. It's a busy sink (family of 6) so nothing would be able to drip dry there. Re-reading this post 2 years later, tho', I am going to consider pulling it out and putting a bowl of something there that I'm working with (the compost while I peel?) The quality is excellent and I like the width. We have both a faucet and a filter and that gives us two streams of water, which is handy. I rarely have trouble washing something flat, just my widest baking sheets. With my extra counter depth, I could have gotten a larger sink (or at least rectangular) but I like that the swoop of the Orca allows the faucet to nestle in and be slightly closer to the front - seems more ergonomic. Overall, I'm pleased, and while slightly embarrassed that I obsessed over something for so long, I am a serious researcher and am glad I explored all the options. Good luck!

We pretty much love everthing about the sink. Aside from the looks which we obviously liked and the fact that no one we know has one, it has been pretty much maintenace free. There are certain foods which strip the color off and leave shiny bright copper spots. But within a day the sink starts to patina(darken) and it looks seamless again. And we've poured plenty of hot and boiling water down the drain and it's never been an issue. Copper is also naturally anti-bacterial so that's another added bonus. We also heard some of the warnings about the copper from Mexico. I will say ours is stoutly made and it weighed a ton. I went with one of the ebay sellers who had been around for awhile and looked through alot of feedback. That's about all I can think of to tell you. If you want I have pics of what it looked like before it was used and how it looks now after a year of use with no more upkeep other than soap and water.

Well I'm a magpie too :) So I have both a mosaic (behind the range) and a subway tile, but I do have to compliment the fact that you went with a blue. I like it with the granite. A neutral would have been safer, and oh so boring :) By the way, we need to use the term DS...oh wait that's taken....(Dear Spouse dear son might get confusing) Or I like "SU" (spousal unit). My DH or SU as the case may be :) was told early in the design process that "I don't know" has a three day window to be turned into "I don't care" if he can't figure out what he wants :) Since I'm the designer...that's a challenge for him heh heh But he's one opinionated SU so normally he comes up with something :) He had definate influance on the backsplash. I was HORRIFIED with the cost, and he decided that it was the "only" one that worked LOL so my inner magpie won LOL

I Googled the one that ssg7741 found and it's less expensive ($326 with free shipping at Home Perfect) vs. $382 at Faucet Direct. I don't know if Faucet Direct has free shipping. Their page says it's free on Kohler orders over $99. They DO have 'Call or Live Chat for best price', so you may be able to get a slightly better price from them by mentioning the Home Perfect price. I was looking for a sink just like yours - we ended up with a Kohler TaskCenter - ours is much longer (60 inches) , and requires a 36 cabinet. It was a CraigsList find. I LOVE it, and also how easy it was for us to cut our own butcher block.
However, here are the others I found:
Franke Manor House
Elkay Gourmet Elite (comes in bullnose or squared off)
Kohler TaskSink (single) - there is one on ebay now, at a very good price, however their shipping tends to be high. Also, it may require a 39 inch cabinet? I'll link it just in case.

Blanco used to make one called a "BlancoWave Plus Module" sink - it is no longer being made, but you might find it on ebay. It may only be 2 bowls, however.
However, those all require a 36 inch cabinet.
The only one I could find which I believe would accept a 30 inch cabinet is made by AstraCast (don't know anything about that brand.) It is a sink meant for a 36" cabinet, however the bowl itself is smaller, with an integrated drainboard to the side. It is linked below.

Also, the sink you saw at Ikea is, I believe, a Utility sink. It is very deep. It is the only one they had which was 18 gauge. We considered it, then discounted it, because it was quite deep.

Oh, you guys are sooo good! Now I have a name to put to it: linear apron. At least that's what Franke calls it.

I also saw some online today called 'work top' sinks that are similar. At least I have something to go on now. Thank you!

We are also doing this sink with butcher block countertops. We are planning to order them from John Boos and are trying to avoid a seam, so one of these sinks will be perfect! Now, if only I can find one at a price that I can handle.

There is a company called Kindred that makes those types of sinks as well. They are quite reasonably priced.
