I store just about any type of item you can think of in drawers...utensils, pots/pans, toaster, mixers, food processor, wraps & baggies, foils, extension cords & other electrical-related items, bread, linens, Tupperware, water bottles, mixing bowls, tableware, junk, candles and other misc stuff, cookie cutters/rolling pin/sifter, ... The list goes on! No, you probably cannot store a KA stand mixer in a drawer, but I don't want to...it's a little too heavy to be lifting up anyway (regardless of base cab storage type) so I store it in one of the corners on the counter. I don't think most mixer lifts are sturdy enough to mix right on them so I would still have to lift it up to the counter from a lift. (Plus, flour all over and with the cabinet door open, inside the cabinet! Along w/anything else that spills...countertops have an overhang for a reason...they protect the interior of cabinets/drawers from spills by covering them and directing spills (liquid & solid) away from the cabinets and down to the floor.) Regardless of your decision on drawers vs ROTS, get full-extension...it's a must! Soft-close is also nice, but it's a nice to have. Actually, I might consider not getting soft-close for ROTS b/c the slight delay in closing (as the drawer/tray is gently closed) means having to wait to close the door(s). BTW...I have one cabinet w/ROTS (Pet Center) and all others are drawers. If I had it to do over, that one cabinet would be a pullout (like a trash pullout), with an interior drawer box. (I rarely use the top ROTS in the Pet Center.) That cabinet has soft-close just like the drawers...and it is a noticeable wait for the ROTS to close b/f I can close the doors (2 doors on it). So, I speak from experience.

Do you want to flip this upside down for the sake of installing them flipped upside down? Or is it to achieve a certain goal? Assuming that your goals are the "Advantages" you've listed up top i.e. other people's plumbing leaks (somehow), storage, and/or full substrate for the counter then, the only meritorious one of the lot is the full counter substrate. However, even that is countermanded by the fact that you will impair the structural stability of the cabinet because the COM (center of mass) of the cabinet will be over a base which is not constrained to be rigid - since the two (formerly top-braces) braces are not connected. They're also just MDF and not particularly strong, I don't believe, unlike the solid, one piece particleboard. A better solution if you want a full sub-counter is to install the cabinets normally and then either insert a plywood sub-top or buy spare cabinets and use another cabinet's floor as your cabinet's top. Definitely give your cabinet a proper base, however. As others have said, if detecting plumbing leaks are what you seek, you can do that just as easily by removing the toekick periodically and peaking in. If storage is what you need, you get a better solution with the toe-kick drawers or again just removing the toekick and shoving your stash under the cabinets (probably better obscured, if drugs or money, besides). You're fundamentally limited in how large an item you can squeeze into the toe-kick area in reaching through a hole in the bottom under an upper drawer and an open lower drawer. Unless you plan on removing all the drawers each time you want to reach your toe-kick stash. Hopefully whatever you want to horde down through holes at the bottom of your cabinet won't be impacted by your neighbours leaky plumbing.

Thanks for the headsup, angela12345. I measured the GD and went to HD to measure the interior dimension of a 30" sink base cabinet. My oh my, a 30" sink base is TINY! But, it will have to do for now. The 33" sink base has more space inside and I wish we could put it in our layout without my being so bothered. Sigh. Alas, I really can't stand how the spacing of the sink base is uneven in relation to the already lopsided window on the wall. It makes me feel I am living in the winchester mystery house! So far, I have ascertained that it can hold our trash, recycle bin and compost pail, with a smidge of room left for fire extinguisher. Definitely no room for insta-hot water heater and filter. So, we nix that from our wish list. I am looking for a single bowl undermount. After some online research, I found a kindred sink KCUS30A-10/10BG that I like but I don't know if it's available online or not. I wish I could use the ticor sink but the one I like needs a 33" sink base. Bummer. The kindred sink I am interested in will have interior dimension of 27"W x 16"L x 10"H.
