Pull out shelves cut the size of the front lip. This can work if you store a large mixer, toaster or other appliance under counter.
Double sinks were more useful before dishwashers became popular. I like a large single.

I hate double sinks, but if I only had one, I'd get a large double so I can multitask with dirty things on one side with prep stuff having a free spot on the other side. Our new kitchen will have 2 sinks. A round prep sink and large single basin for clean up and anything messy which I don't want in the prep sink. I don't like small double-basins because it's annoying to clean large things. No more spraying water all over while trying to scrub off a big roasting pan upright in half of the double-basin. BLECH.

As for the all drawers...that sounds a little limiting. Where do you put deep stock pots? Small appliances? I'd rethink this one. You won't stay in this house forever. Do you want to alienate buyers with this unconventional design?

I have just about all drawers. I have one shallow lower cupboard and a funky shaped tall skinny cabinet. All drawers is good as long as you don't have something like a mixer you want in a lower cabinet. I sure got some weird comments from the cabinet painter and installers about "gee that's a lot of drawers" but I don't regret any of 'em. Non kitchen people don't even notice. I do have a sink cabinet, but I have a drawer inside it...

My small appliances (I don't have many) fit in drawers as does my stockpot (I have it stuffed over the fridge though because I don't use it much). I have a big mixer that sits out, but I do have a spot for it should I ever want to hide it.

It's veryveryvery functional and makes the most out of a small kitchen especially. Be sure you have a place for your booze though.

My non-drawer lowers are the only spaces in my kitchen I haven't put stuff in (aside from the high spots). Coincidence? I don't think so.

Even my dishwasher is drawers.

Glass over a sink makes for a much nicer dish duty. Great place for it.

As far as base cabinets, I have all drawers except for one cabinet with shelves. I'm regretting that one cab since I love my drawers. Plus I have a couple of pantries with shelves that I use baskets since I lack drawers. I haven't totally repacked my kitchen so maybe I'll find use for that base cabinet with shelves - maybe.

I went with a single sink after having a double and will not look back. Love it.

Drawers vs Roll Out Tray Shelves (ROTS)...

Yes, definitely go with drawers, they're more useful, IMHO, than shelves...stationary OR roll out. With drawers, just pull open/push shut.
With ROTS (a.k.a., pull out shelves), you have to open one or two doors, pull out the tray, push the tray back in, wait for it to close completely, close one or two doors
With drawers, things won't fall off the sides, the drawers' sides are all full height so things are kept corralled.
With ROTS, not only can things fall off and over the shallow sides, but if handles stick out past the sides, they can get caught on the door frame coming out.
With drawers, they're not adjustable, but with planning and/or organizers you can do almost anything with/in them
With ROTS, they are adjustable.
With drawers, you only have to open them far enough to get what you want
With ROTS, the doors almost always have to be opened all the way to get to even the contents in the front of the ROTS.
Personally, I like the look of drawer bases better than all doors...this is a personal preference and has no bearing on functionality one way or the other.

I have almost all drawers except for my three corner cabinets and my sink base. I keep some appliances and my stock pots in one of the corner cabs. everything else fits in the drawers. LOVE them for all the reasons Buehl mentions. The drawers open and close easily. It's sooooo convenient to get to my pots and pans. As long as you can account for large items and have places to store them, I say go for it. I actually could use one more drawer - have no where it could've gone but would add one if I could.

I store just about any type of item you can think of in drawers...utensils, pots/pans, toaster, mixers, food processor, wraps & baggies, foils, extension cords & other electrical-related items, bread, linens, Tupperware, water bottles, mixing bowls, tableware, junk, candles and other misc stuff, cookie cutters/rolling pin/sifter, ... The list goes on!

No, you probably cannot store a KA stand mixer in a drawer, but I don't want to...it's a little too heavy to be lifting up anyway (regardless of base cab storage type) so I store it in one of the corners on the counter. I don't think most mixer lifts are sturdy enough to mix right on them so I would still have to lift it up to the counter from a lift. (Plus, flour all over and with the cabinet door open, inside the cabinet! Along w/anything else that spills...countertops have an overhang for a reason...they protect the interior of cabinets/drawers from spills by covering them and directing spills (liquid & solid) away from the cabinets and down to the floor.)

Regardless of your decision on drawers vs ROTS, get full-extension...it's a must! Soft-close is also nice, but it's a nice to have. Actually, I might consider not getting soft-close for ROTS b/c the slight delay in closing (as the drawer/tray is gently closed) means having to wait to close the door(s).

BTW...I have one cabinet w/ROTS (Pet Center) and all others are drawers. If I had it to do over, that one cabinet would be a pullout (like a trash pullout), with an interior drawer box. (I rarely use the top ROTS in the Pet Center.) That cabinet has soft-close just like the drawers...and it is a noticeable wait for the ROTS to close b/f I can close the doors (2 doors on it). So, I speak from experience.

I'm wondering if you meant "two sinks" instead of "double sinks", the way you phrased your sentence. I can't answer to that yet but if you can clarify you may get different responses.

We have had a double bowl for 15 years. In about 3 weeks or so, when our kitchen is functional, we will have a super single bowl for our cleanup sink and a large prep sink. I am looking forward to it, but I can't tell you exactly how each will be used and why I will like them. I do plan for the prep sink (in the main island) to be accessible from both sides of the island so that my children can help me with meal prep without being in the kitchen. The two sinks will also mean that DH can rinse a pot at the same time that I am cleaning vegetables or whatever else I use water for and neither one of us will have to yield to the other. (Purely convenience, not necessity, but definitely an increase in efficiency for us.)

We will also have mostly drawers. The stand mixer and bread machine will go on a counter in the pantry permanently, but the waffle iron, crock pot and a couple of other small appliances will live in the drawers. I thought about having shallow drawers with regular fronts made but in the end was so tired of trying to explain odd creative details to the cabinet guy and decided it was one detail that I could live without. So we have two sink cabinets, one that had to be a hinged door over the cold air return with a little extra space, a lazy susan in the corner, a trash pullout, and a pullout on either side of the stove (where the whole unit pulls out with one motion). Other than that, we are getting all regular drawers.

I chose to put some variety in my cabinets for 2 reasons:

1. I have no other storage nearby such as a walk in pantry or laundry room that can fit the stuff that doesn't fit in the drawers. My kitchen cabinets need to do it all.

2. I plan to keep our new cabinets for several decades. Even though I did lots of planning based on items I have now there is no way I can predict what I'll be wanting to store in the cabinets 20 years from now.

I have lots and lots of drawers and try to keep most of my everyday items in them. But there are things I want to keep in the kitchen that really don't need to be at my fingertips at all times---these don't need to be in drawers.

It turns out that 2 of my most used base cabinets have fixed shelves---I keep my large mixing bowls (which I use just about every day) in one and colanders in another one (but the cabinet is only 13" deep.) Fixed shelves may be less convenient than drawers or roll outs but they can hold more.

After 4 1/2 years, I'm still really liking our roll outs. I don't have problems with things falling off. The extra motions of opening the drawer and THEN pulling out the shelf really doesn't bother me. I tend to organize my roll outs so the most used items are in front---so I just need to open the door without pulling out the shelf much of the time. Perhaps they're not quite as easy as drawers but I find having some flexibility built into my storage makes up for it.

I love having a single bowl sink. I always hated the divider in the double bowls I had all my life until this remodel. I often use a dishpan---making my single bowl into a double bow--but then I can remove it whenever I want.

If you meant 2 separate sinks, we have that setup. Actually, we have both...

The cleanup sink is on one wall and is a double-bowl sink with a 70/30 configuration (large bowl is 21.5" wide, small bowl is 10.5" wide). The garbage disposal is in the large bowl, our DW is on the right, as is the small bowl. We stack dirty dishes, soak pans, and scrape scraps in the large bowl. The small bowl is for soaking utensils while cleaning up and is usually left somewhat clear other times so there's a "free" bowl if needed. The size of the large bowl is such that all my cookie sheets, pots & pans, and refrigerator bins & shelves fit in the sink (except the full-length meat drawer...it's almost 3' long).

Our prep sink is on the opposite wall and is about 40" to 42" away from the cooktop and in the corner next to the peninsula on the DR side. This sink is where I do the vast majority of prep work...cleaning & cutting up veggies & fruit, filling pots, draining pots, etc. I love having it so close to the cooktop and clear w/o dirty dishes so I can use it w/o having to first clean it out!

In our kitchen, which is not a big kitchen, it helps to separate the Prep & Cooking Zones from the Cleanup Zone. While I'm preparing dinner (along with a child or two!), someone else can be cleaning up and we don't get in each other's way.
