Yes, I like this faucet very much and no, it didn't take long at all to get used to it...from what I recall, just a couple of days. The nice thing about this (and most similar) is that the handle can be on the right, left, or in front. If in front, there's less water dripping onto the counter than when on the sides. If I had it to do over, I would probably have put the handle on the front for just that reason. To turn the water on/off, you move the handle away or toward the stem. To adjust the temperature, you move the handle back and forth. I don't think it's more difficult than controlling it via a handle on top, just different. The sprayer works great! It locks on either spray or stream and "remembers" what you last used when you turn it on. My DH likes to use the spray mode, I prefer stream. But, since my DH uses it most of the time, it stays in spray for him (unless I've used it!) If you look at the handle in this picture, you can see that it's pulled "away" from the stem of the faucet ("on") and that it's straight up for lukewarm water (this pic also shows you that you can "lock" the head in any direction to reach all parts of the sink): I also have a pullout faucet at the prep sink that works very well. The faucet on our main/cleanup sink (the one pictured above) is the Kohler Vinnata in brushed nickel (K-690-BN). The faucet on our prep sink (the one I use the most) is the Kohler Fairfax, again, in brushed nickel (K-12177-BN). Pictured below:

It's hard to say about your magnifier. The glass holder and handle appears to be brass and in poor shape. Either it has years of corrosion from handling or had a finish at one time that flaked off. It could have been part of a set consisting of a matching letter opener and magnifier, or maybe a glass carried in a woman's purse. Magnifiers in brass of this size are available on-line and priced from $15 to $30. Prices increase with size and exotic handles.
