Anyone have pics of satin nickel hardware on a wood door?

We are replacing all of the exterior locks and deadbolts. I am torn between the aged oil bronze and satin nickel. A white french door is being replaced with a wood sliding glass door. I could get it in white, but I really like the look of the Anderson door in the light brown wood. All of the other doors are white and all the windows have white grids.

Does anyone have a picture of satin nickel hardware on a wood door? I am nervous as to how this will look as this door is the "center of attention" when you come in the house. We will be replacing all of the interior "ugly gold brass" after we do the exterior project, so I want to pick the right ones.

Any suggestions/hints to make this decision easier?

I have all natural wood doors (and windows) with 1980's antique brass finish hardware. When I recently replaced my french doors, I selected an aged brass that is halfway between what's everywhere else in the house and ORB. I really prefer the warmness of brass/bronze with wood. Here are some pics of satin nickel (not my home). The first one is very bright, the others are more muted, which I think looks better...so it might depend on the color of wood and the brightness of the hardware.

I found quite a few pics with nickel finish hardware similar to this, where the hardware is very contemporary and chunky. I think it looks great, and probably better than a darker finish, but it's really all about the hardware.

Here are a few photos from our house. All of our inside wood doors have satin nickel knobs. Hope this helps.

Hi Bethv! You might try calling a store in NYC called Olde Good Things (http://oldegoodthings.com). They are mostly architectural salvage but they do get furniture. The Chelsea location is the larger one and you might try that first. Regards, B

That would drive me nuts. I also am all for mixing metals throughout the home and even in the same room. It adds interest. But the door hardware needs to match. If it doesn't it might look like you changed the knobs out but left the hinges. I'd change those hinges if you're going with nickel knobs.

Having a hard time with picking the finish color of my hardware! White cabinets, soapstone counters, med. Oak finished flooring... Door hardware is original 1937 old, aged brass... Almost a bronze color, but I ruled out bronze as the cabinet hardware, I really don't feel drawn to it and I've been leaning to antique pewter, but also love the white kitchens I have seen with satin nickel. I just found out from the cabinet maker that they use Amerock hinges, and there is not an aged pewter, or weathered nickel, so my exposed hinge option is made for me, satin nickel. It seems like my bin pulls and knobs should also be satin nickel, or has anyone used different hinges and hardware?

Love the door choices! Very nice. I would continue with bronze or black. Easy on the eyes and blends with all your colors. Use similar colors in the same room to blend. Hinges aren't meant to be a focal element. If satin nickel is used, they will become a focal point to the doors, which is really not needed. Let the doors shine. If you want contrast to the doors, then choose another finish, but will likely become more focal.

Thanks for all the pictures. The satin nickel looks great on your wood doors! We decided to go with the rubbed oil bronze look because we have so many white doors in our house. I'm hoping it will help tone down so much white. For our front door, we're going with the Schlage digital keypad. My son has it (his is in satin nickel) and we just love it.

Anxious to order them!
